What Is Argentinian Shrimp

Seafood Dipping Sauce

Argentinian shrimp are caught off the coast of, you guessed it, Argentina. Unlike other species of shrimp, the are red when they are pulled out of the ocean, and when they’re raw . They have a super sweet flavour and a beautiful meaty texture that some have compared to lobster. Once I tried them, I haven’t looked back.

You can absolutely sub your favourite type of shrimp in this recipe though. They all work!

How Long To Marinate Shrimp

How long you can marinate shrimp depends on the type of marinade you are using. When using an oil-based marinade, you can marinate for 1-2 hours. When using an acidic based marinade , you can marinate 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on how much acidity you have. If you let them sit too long, the acid will start to break down the shrimp and they will become soft.

Since this grilled shrimp marinade contains some lime juice but has more oil in it then lime, I like to marinate for an hour or so. Sometimes it is more and sometimes it is less, but at least 30 minutes. I usually dont go over 2 hours as I want the shrimp to remain their integrity.

Ah, college football is almost back, and I couldnt be more excited! I find pro baseball to be rather slow, so the summer is usually pretty boring in terms of sports. Thats probably a good thing, though, since theres plenty of yardwork to keep me busy, and were always looking for extra time to go for a bike ride. Truthfully, this summer has been pretty good for sports. The World Cup and the Tour de France both provided plenty of mid-summer excitementbut Im still ready for my college football!

The long Labor Day weekend is one of my favorite times of the year! It signals the beginning of college football, but its also a celebration of the end of the summer. Around the Spiced house, that means Labor Day weekend is a huge grilling bonanza!

Earlier this summer, I partnered with Wilton Armetale to showcase their line of awesome grillware. Since then, Ive been using several other pieces from Wilton Armetales Gourmet Grillware, and I can honestly say that its super awesome! Not only does it make grilling a cinch, but you can grill and serve in the same piece. Take this Football Griller, for instance. Could this be any more perfect for tailgating??

Creole Butter Boasts Versatility

The Creole Butter recipe we use for these grilled shrimp skewers is the same one we use as a topping for steaks.

Its made very simply with a few spices and some Creole seasoning. Our favorite is Tony Chacheres Original Creole Seasoning and we use it all the time, like in our Seafood Gumbo and our Fried Green Tomatoes. If you dont have a favorite of your own, be sure to give it a try.

For more information on southern flavors like Creole and the regions they come from youll want to read Southern Food Then and Now.

For the steak, we blend the butter and make little scoops to put on the hot steaks right as they come off the grill. For the shrimp skewers we melt it and brush the shrimp while theyre cooking. Set some aside and keep it hot to use for dipping.

What Dip Goes Well With Shrimp

There are so many possibilities for dips that pair well with shrimp, it really comes down to a matter of personal taste. Likewise, the different types and methods of shrimp are hugely varied. Not to go all Forest Gump here , there’s roasted shrimp, coconut shrimp, bacon-wrapped shrimp, shrimp rings, grilled shrimp, popcorn shrimp, and grilled shrimp, just to name a few. The dips and sauces we’ll go over today will cover a wide gamut of these , but we’ll talk about what’s best paired with what, and also provide you with some killer recipes.

I personally love serving shrimp as an appetizer, and then making three or four dipping sauces that people can try and enjoy. I love having variety when I entertain, so opting for smaller portions of lots of different types of appetizers, dips and sauces is my favourite.

Easy Dipping Sauce Recipes For Shrimp

Need a unique dip for your shrimp cocktail appetizer? Or, introduce kids to shrimp with a tray of different dipping sauces for shrimp to see which one they like best.

Do your kids like shrimp? My girls were both initially hesitant to try them but I used a few tried and true mommy tricks to coax them into trying them. Now roasted shrimp cocktail is one of the holiday appetizers they most look forward to having each year.

If your kids are new to shrimp, a fun way to get them to try a taste is to offer a little tray of dips for them to dunk the shrimp in. Make the game more about which dip is the tastiest so their attention is slightly distracted from the shrimp itself.

For the record, the Peanut will eat just about anything if there is mustard involved. Little Pea is obsessed with Chick-Fil-A sauce.

So whether you’re looking for a fun way to introduce shrimp to your kids or a new twist on a classic shrimp cocktail, there’s sure to be a dipping sauce on this list that works perfectly for you.

Quick Grilled Shrimp With Sriracha Dipping Sauce

November 1, 2019 by Chef Lisa

In the time it takes to preheat your grill, you can prep and marinate shrimp and prepare the dipping sauce. Then after a few minutes on the barbecue, this quickly grilled shrimp with sriracha dipping sauce is done and ready to be served as an appetizer or as the main dish.

The texture of shrimp can go from luscious to rubbery if overcooked, but that is such an easy thing to fix. When sautéing or grilling, dont cook shrimp according to the timer, but by what it looks like. Raw shrimp is grey and pearly while cooked shrimp is pink and the color turns opaque. Since it cooks so quickly, stand over the heat and watch. As soon as the color starts to change, get the tongs ready and remove the shrimp, not only from the heat source but out of the hot pan.

Not only can the texture be ruined by overcooking, but the delicate flesh can start to cook when immersed in an acidic substance like a marinade. This recipe contains lemon juice so the shrimp shouldnt spend very long in the sauce. Marinating for only 15 minutes will not start the cooking process but will provide a flavor boost to the shrimp.
