Step 3: Grill the Chicken

Once dinner time rolls around, go ahead a preheat your grill. I have a gas grill, and it heats quite quickly. If you have a charcoal grill, light the coals and get the heat to a medium-high temperature.

Place the chicken breasts over indirect heat, and grill for 6-8 minutes per side. The thicker the cut of meat, the longer it will need to cook.

For boneless thighs, cook time will be a little less, approximately 5-6 minutes per side.

For chicken legs and thighs cook time will be longer, approximately 10-15 minutes per side. If unsure the meat is done, use a meat thermometer internal temperature for chicken is 165 degrees.

Tips To Make Best Lemon Pepper Chickenrecipe

  • You can cut chicken breasts horizontally into two fillets or pound a chicken breasts to make it thin.
  • Use fresh grated lemon zest. Do not grate the white part below the yellow skin. Its too bitter and will change the taste of chicken.
  • Use fresh ground pepper. Freshly ground pepper always has much more flavors and peppery taste to it.
  • If you like to pack in extra flavors, add minced garlic and onion powder. I like to add it to the chicken fillets. But you could add to flour for breading chicken.

Lets Make Some Grilled Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings

Step 1: Season wings with dry rub

To begin, remove the wings from the refrigerator and pat down with paper towels. Spray lightly with avocado oil or brush on a light layer of oil with a food bush. Then, combine 2 tsp salt, 1 tsp fresh cracked black pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder in a small bowl. Season wings on all sides with the seasoning mixture.

    Step 2: Grill wings

Next, preheat grill to med-high heat. Then, place seasoned wings on the warm grill. If your grill runs hot and you are seeing a lot of flames flare up, reduce the heat. We dont want to burn the wings.

Then, cook the wings for 15-20 minutes in a closed grill rotating every 3 minutes. The constant rotation will allow the skin to crisp without burning. Remove the wings from the grill when the internal temp reaches 170F.

Step 3: Toss wings in lemon pepper sauce

Then, while the wings are still warm from the grill, prepare the sauce by combining melted butter or ghee, lemon juice, lemon zest, dijon mustard and 1 tsp cracked pepper in a small bowl. Finally, toss the wings in this sauce and enjoy! You can use the excess sauce for dipping as you eat

    Step 4: Enjoy!

    What Does Quail Taste Like

    Rosemary

It has a richer flavor than chicken, and one quail is about the same serving size as a large chicken breast. Think of Quail like dark meat chicken if you love dark meat then you will love Quail. I find quail must tastier than chicken. It is hard to find fresh, so look for it in the freezer section and if you can find it boneless, even better! I butterflied these little birds to they would lay flat on the grill- one quail is the perfect serving size per person.

Rosemary and lemon pair perfectly together- this seasoning paste is great for any poultry dish.

How To Make Your Own Lemon Pepper Seasoning

    Grilled Lemon Pepper Chicken

While lemon pepper seasoning is a pretty popular topping in North America, not every supermarket keeps lemon pepper seasoning readily available. So, if you live somewhere not yet blessed by the deliciousness of lemon pepper, you can always make your own.

All you really need is some lemons, a zester, coarse sea salt, and plenty of black pepper.

  • Zest a bunch of lemons so that you get just the yellow exteriors of the lemons, with as little of the white pith as possible.
  • Combine that with a roughly equal amount of coarse black pepper by volume. There isnt really a science to this, so just eyeball it until it looks right.
  • Once thats done, stick the pepper and lemon zest onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake at the lowest setting your oven will go. It will take about an hour, after which your lemon zest should be dehydrated and sort of break apart if you try and bend it.
  • If it is drying unevenly, try giving the pan a shake and tossing everything together during the cooking time.
  • Once dried and smelling amazing, add it to a spice grinder, food processor, or, if you feel like going old school, a mortar and pestle. Blitz until a fine powder, and then combine with an equal amount of salt, and you have some really delicious, homemade lemon pepper seasoning all on your own.

Add the chicken breasts and the easy lemon chicken marinade ingredients into a zip-top bag and set aside to marinate. Then, remove the chicken from the marinade and grill until cooked through.

As long as youve got your grill fired up, why not grill some vegetables in the same amount of time that it takes to grill the lemon chicken, which is just about 10 minutes?

Place the vegetables in a grill basket over high heat on one side of your grill and place the chicken on the other side over medium heat. I used broccoli because its hands down my favorite grilled vegetable, but mushrooms, zucchini, and bell peppers are all excellent choices.

Simply drizzle the veggies with a bit of olive oil , sprinkle with salt and pepper, and get grilling.
