How To Connect Weber Grill To Natural Gas

How Do I Connect A Natural Gas Grill To My House

Weber natural gas grill install

To connect a natural gas grill to your house, you need to hire a professional. Working with gas lines is dangerous, so do not attempt this without a professional present. A plumbing or heating contractor or a licensed gas fitter are your best options to install your natural gas grill.

If you have some experience and plan to pursue the gas grill installation yourself, be sure to have it inspected by a professional before use.

There are two main ways to power your grill: propane or natural gas. Natural gas has several advantages when compared to propane.

  • Cost-effective natural gas is often less expensive than propane, which will save you money over time.
  • Safe Unlike propane, which is denser than air, natural gas is lighter than air. It rises, which prevents any dangerous buildup of gas from occurring.
  • Convenient No need to buy bulky propane tanks and hook them up to your gas grill. Also, you wont have to refill natural gas like you do with propane, which makes it a reliable option.
  • Portable As long as you have the right cord to connect your grill to the home gas line, you can install your gas grill anywhere in the yard.

If you are looking to invest in a natural gas grill, then check out this article for our detailed step-by-step breakdown of the installation process. Refer to the video below to help with the installation.

Fitting The Kit And Connecting The Grill

  • Turn all gas control knobs to the off position and switch the LP tank off before you disconnect and remove.
  • Open the lid of the grill and remove the warming rack, cooking grates and flame tamers so you have clear access to the burner tubes and other connections.
  • Remove any carry over tubes if you have them. They have simple hitch pins that slide out with a firm push. Once out, the carryovers will lift off.
  • Remove the rear hitch pins from the burner tubes and any front ones that may be hidden from view. The burner tubes then lift out and disconnect from the gas valves with a firm pull. If they resist, double check all springs and clips have been removed, as you dont want to damage them.
  • Set deep within the burner connection hole will be the orifices, these are small and usually brass. Remove them with the orifice removal tool that comes with the kit. These are mass-produced, and unfortunately, their tolerance can be rubbish, so use a good quality ¼ inch socket if it fails to fit tightly onto the jets. If they are loose fitting be sure to take it easy so the jets do not become rounded, and a quick squirt with some penetrating fluid should assist with removal.
  • If orifices are supplied simply screw them into the valves, and be sure not to over tighten as you will strip the thread on the orifices.
  • Pull off the burner control knobs from the front of the grill. Unscrew the screws underneath to remove the bezels and replace with the new ones that come with the kit.
  • Connecting The Gas Line To Connect Weber Natural Gas Grill To Gas Line

Now lets dive into connecting the gas line to the grill. Following are the simple steps to follow, and you will be good to go:

  • Turn off the gas supply so that gas wont leak while connecting the line.
  • Take the hose and connect it to the regulator using a connector kit.
  • The hose stays in a metal fitting attached to the regulator because it helps prevent leakages and creates a tight seal.
  • Attach one end of the hose to the gas tank while ensuring that the hose isnt blocked or kinked.
  • Move both ends of the regulator by moving the screws clockwise until they are tight enough.

Maintaining Your Grill To Connect Weber Natural Gas Grill To Gas Line

How to connect a natural gas grill to your home gas system ...

Maintaining a gas grill is as important as cooking clean and hygienic food on it. If you maintain the grills and the burners routinely, they are less likely to create hurdles like blocked hoses and rusty grills.

Maintaining the gas grill is simpler than one could think. Maintaining them regularly wont increase your work, and you will be grilling for years without any trouble.

Gas grills are less likely to take a mess on the grates than charcoal grills. The grease is automatically melted once you lit up the flames. And if you are lucky to have non stick grills, there wont be much food residue to wipe.

But the melted grease can drop onto the burners, and if not properly cleaned, it can burn to create uncontrollable flames. Furthermore, food residue dropped on the burners can cause blockages. So ensure that you clean the burner too after they are cool enough to be touched.

    Buying The Authentic Parts

The quality and durability of your gal grill and its hoses depend on the material you are using. Its important to know which supplier sells the most durable and authentic parts. Only buy from authorized dealers who sells the original company products.

If you are looking to save money by sacrificing quality, doing this on a gas line connector is the worst idea. Any inferior quality part used can cause leakages and serious mishaps.

A natural gas line has three parts: the gas line, the regulator, and the pressure-reducing valve. The regulator and the pressure-reducing valve are important because they reduce the amount of gas going to your grill. The regulator controls the gas coming out of the pipe, and the pressure-reducing valve controls the amount of air going in.

Its also important to know that you should never use soap when cleaning your grill because it can break down the seals in your grill.

Maintaining your grill is important because it will help your grill last longer and work properly.

How Do You Install A Natural Gas Grill Line

Check five steps for gas grill line installation, and you are good to go!

Determine a spot to tap the gas line:

At the very beginning, a technician will look for an existing gas line to tap so that he can send gas to the outdoors by running the line.

    Set up a T-fitting:

After finding the spot, the service provider will install at-fitting by using pipe dope/ Teflon tape. Professionals use this tape to ensure an airtight connection for tapping into the gas line.

Run the line to the outdoor cooking spot:

Once done with tapping, he is supposed to extend the line through the wall by multiple pipes and terminate the line at stub-out.

    Set up a gas valve:

There should be a gas valve at the terminal of the gas grill line to maintain proper safety. The service person will definitely use Teflon tape for an airtight connection.

    Go for the last inspection:

After installing the gas line, an inspector might come to recheck the whole thing. Arranging for an official inspection is necessary for 100% safety.

Can Weber Genesis Be Converted To Propane

    Weber GenesisConvertpropane

. Likewise, people ask, can I convert a natural gas grill to propane?

Natural gas orifices are larger on a BBQ than the propane counterparts. If propane is supplied through an orifice manufactured for natural gas, too much propane will be released and a large flame will result. Converting a natural gas BBQ to use propane can be done at home however, caution should be taken.

Subsequently, question is, which orifice is bigger natural gas or propane? The reason for this is because natural gas orifices are larger than propane orifices strictly because of gas service pressure. Conversely, trying to use a propane appliance with natural gas will likely result in a very small flame or no burner flame at all because of the lower pressure gas and the smaller orifice.

Also asked, can Weber Natural Gas Grill be converted to propane?

Like converting the type of fuel used in any barbecue grill, converting Weber barbecue grills is not difficult. Fuel conversion means changing the in-coming gas connection, changing the regulator for liquid propane or natural gas and then changing each orifice for the type of fuel being regulated.

How To Connect A Natural Gas Grill To Your Home Gas System Using A Burnaby Gas Plug Box

Written by Mike Johnson in Design

Hi folks, Mike here again with a quick tutorial per a customer request.

Hey! Spring is here!..even if the weather isnt exactly cooperating. One of the questions I get asked most often when it comes to plumbing gas are these fancy new gas grills with the quick disconnect hoses from Weber grill company. It seems like theres a lot of confusion as to what and how these grills actually get hooked to your home. Before we get in to talking about how that works lets first discuss gas grills in general so you are aware of the advantages and disadvantages of both propane and natural gas.

The 2 types of gas grills Advantages and Disadvantages of both

You have a choice of two different styles of gas grills. The most common gas grill sold in the last 40 years are the type where you purchase a steel tank full of pressurized Propane and simply screw it to the short hose hanging from the burner assembly under the grill. Its a pretty simple solution.

The second type of grill uses Natural Gas. Natural Gas and Propane are not the same thing, they are completely different and the two are not compatible. On a natural gas grill you can NOT buy a tank at the grocery store or the local hardware store for your grill. A natural gas grill MUST be hooked up to your home gas system, the question of course is HOW we do it right? Lets talk abut that.
