When you choose a gas grill, it will be built for use with either natural gas or propane. Many propane models can be converted for use with a natural gas line too.

Natural gas is most often used with built-in grills because they are permanent anyway. Many people like the convenience of natural gas because it means never running out and not having to refill propane containers. Freestanding grills can also be connected to a natural gas line or converted to do so, but this work has to be done by a licensed professional. Also, make sure the model that you choose is able to be converted.

Propane grills are very popular because they dont require any installation and they mean that a freestanding grill can be moved at will. The propane tanks can be refilled at some hardware stores or can be swapped for full tanks at big box stores, grocery stores and other select merchants. Propane models are also used in areas where natural gas is not available for whatever reason. Is The Control Lockout Feature Activated

Did you experience a power failure or was the appliance recently unplugged? Your appliance may have a Control Lockout feature.

When power is first supplied to the appliance, or if the appliance loses power, the surface burners will be in the Control Lockout position. The surface burners cannot be activated until power is restored to the appliance and the Control Lockout is disengaged.

The Control Lockout controls unintended use of the oven control and surface burners. When the control is locked out, the surface burners cannot be turned on by the control knobs. Locked will be in the display.

• Touch the lock key for 3 seconds. The indicator light will turn off, and one long tone will sound.

To activate the Cooktop Lock:

• Turn off all burners and touch the lock key for 3 seconds. When the Cooktop Lock activates, the Cooktop Lock indicator light will turn on and one long tone will sound.

Probably 1 of 3 things: Check your LP tank valve at an LP filling station. Make sure both valve and tank are in working order.Next check for webs or cocoons up around where knob valves go into burners. You may have to remove burners to see into back of valves. Then swab orifice holes with a torch tip cleaner.Third, a Menards , LP outfitter/station, or grill shop should have a universal replacement rubber gas line and “regulator”. Sometimes you end up with cheap/bad regulator out of the factory. Good luck and hope one these helps or does the trick.

What To Do When Your Kitchenaid Gas Grill Isn’t Getting Hot Enough

Problems with gas flow can keep a gas grill from getting hot enough. First, make sure there’s plenty of gas in the tank. The diminished gas flow from a nearly empty tank won’t supply the burners with enough gas to heat properly. Our video shows how to check the level of propane in a tank. If the tank’s full but gas won’t flow freely to the burners, reset the pressure regulator. Replace the pressure regulator if it won’t allow gas to flow properly to the grill after resetting the regulator.

Clogs inside the burner tubes or spills covering the burner tube ports can also inhibit heating. Clean the burner tubes so the burners heat properly and replace any damaged burner tubes. Perform routine maintenance on your grill to help keep the burners working efficiently. Also check and adjust the alignment of the burner tubes to the gas valves so the burners heat properly. Check the operation of the burner valves on the manifold and replace the manifold if gas doesn’t flow properly to the burner tubes when you open the manifold’s valves.
