The Weber Genesis II E-310 gas grill is also an exceptional performer, and it offers several clever, life-improving design elements that we love. The grates are about 20 percent bigger, too, but overall the Genesis II takes up barely more area than the Spirit II, so theres no appreciable trade-off between the two if your patio space is tight. Essentially, the decision comes down to how youll use your grill: If you often cook for crowds, the Genesis II is worth the extra couple hundred dollars.
Performance-wise, we found the two Weber models nearly identical, with the Spirit just slightly edging the Genesis II on burger-searing performance. And that gap would probably close with a bit more time to learn the Genesis IIs finer points. In terms of materials, the two are almost twins, offering heavy cast-aluminum fireboxes and porcelain-coated cast-iron grates. The Genesis II, however, features a frame made of welded rails, while the Spirit II is made of folded metal . Theyre both sturdy enough, but the Genesis II is appreciably stiffer and more solid-feeling. And we like that it has casters: Its easier to swivel into a corner for storage than the casterless Spirit.
Moving the tank to the outside also frees up space below the grill, which Weber fills with a generous and sturdy storage shelf. Thats a nice feature; you can keep trays, grill tools, or even a small cooler there.

I was talking at work about building a drum smoker and a girl I work with overheard me. She said her husband had an old smoker that doesnt get used at all and offered to call him to see if it was something he wanted to get rid of. Turned out that he was, and this smoker has the date code of C.
Thanks for putting a website like this up and thanks for all the info to use my new to me old Smokey Mountain.

What Is Weber’s Smart Grill Hub And Why Is It Useful
Weber’s Smart Grilling Hub is a connectivity accessory that mounts to the side of your grill. The way to “connect” the accessory piece is by downloading the Smart Grilling Hub app on your phone. The app is Bluetooth connected and will send alerts to your phone, such as temperature readings for four different meat types.
This includes alarming you when it reaches a minimum or maximum temperature. This allows you to know when your food is done cooking without cutting into the meat, checking the color, or standing by the grill.
All this functionality is now built into the Smart grills.
How Does Webers Smart Grill Work
The controller on the Weber Smart Grills is the same technology as the Weber Connect Smart Grilling Hub. It connects to your home WiFi network or can pair with your mobile phone or tablet via Bluetooth.
Weber Genesis II Smart Grills Controller
Webers Smart Grills read and relay the ambient temperature of the grill to the app on your device or the on-grill shelf screen. The grill has an ambient probe built in at the grate level. It is centrally located in the rear of the grill.
The controller has two ports for food probes to monitor internal temperatures of food on the grill. You can set temperature alerts and follow step-by-step recipes in the Weber Connect app.

Weber revamped its iconic Genesis grill line this year, rolling out eight new grills that step up in size, features, and price, from two-burner to six-burner. They range in price from $500 to $2,000. To see whether the upgrades are indeed improvements, Consumer Reports bought all of these grills for testing.
What’s Different? The first thing youll notice is that the Weber Genesis II grills arent as blocky as their predecessors: They have rounder hoods and a more streamlined appearance.
The propane tank has been relocated to the right side of the grill, making it easier to change, and two of the four casters have been replaced by wheels.
Under the hood and beneath the grates, the burners ports are bigger and rounder, replacing the old slits, and the burners are tapered. Weber says the tapered shape ensures that the heat is evenly distributed across the cooking surface. Our tests found that it is.
For $200 more, you get a third burner and a larger cooking area, bumping the Weber Genesis II E-310, $700, into our midsized category. Grills in this group can fit 18 to 28 burgers. Performance was similar to the E-210, and indirect cooking was even better.
How Do You Sear A Weber Grill
Once the grill has been pre-heated its time to light the Sear Station. For Summit models, turn the outer burners to off or to low, and then light the Sear Station. For Genesis models, turn the right burner to off or low, and then light the Sear Station. Now its time to put the food to be seared onto the Sear Station.

First, any grill can be a Smart grill using the Weber iGrill App. The iGrill uses wireless meat probes to sense the inside temperature of your food.
Weber was at the forefront of Smart technology, and it is “Smart.”
You can receive alerts to flip that burger or remove the food from your grill right off your phone.
Weber has recipes and other grilling ideas as well.
For the Smart grills, the iGrill is built-in, and you can see the temperature right on the grill and the app.
How To Interpret Weber Grill Codes
You shop online or in a store and see a row of similar Weber Genesis grills with different model numbers.
You almost need a Rosetta Stone or decoder ring to understand the Weber model numbers, so the following is an easy table to crack the code.
If a model begins with E – you have a porcelain enamel hood and stainless Flavorizer Bars.
If the model begins with an S, then the grill has a stainless body, Flavorizer Bars, and stainless grates instead of porcelain. Stainless wears better than porcelain.
The number, such as 3 or 4, indicates the burners on the grill. For Genesis II series grills, you can choose between 3 or 4 burners.
The exception to the ruling is the SE model. It is a special edition for specific dealers.
SE features stainless grates with colored hoods and a handle light and 9 MM grates as opposed to the 7 MM grates of the S models.
Thicker grates hold heat better and theoretically cook faster.
For 2021, the colors are Ocean Blue, Crimson, Copper, and Smoke.
Unlike last year, Genesis is the only Weber with color choices.

Introducing The Teres Major Steak
Teres major is not a steak you will find at most supermarkets. Youll have to seek it out at a good butcher shop or from online sources. But its worth the effort to find and grill on your Weber gas grill.
Also known as a shoulder petite tender roast, petite tender, shoulder tender, or bistro tender, the teres major steak is lean but juicy, and as the alternate names imply, its very tender. Its shaped like and eats a lot like a tenderloin but with a bit more fat and thus more flavor.
The teres major muscle is tucked away inside the chuck primal and comes from the shoulder blade. It takes more time and effort to fabricate this cut from the shoulder clod, which is why you dont see it often in the usual retail settings. Continue reading Teres Major Steak

New Weber Smart Grills What Are They And How Do They Work
As technology in the world around us continuously advances, we are seeing it slowly seep more and more into the tools we use to cook with. Weber, one of the longest standing names in grilling, has made a push in the past few years to incorporate their technology directly into their grills. Weve seen this with Webers jump into the pellet grill market with the SmokeFire Pellet Grills in 2020.New for 2021, Weber is releasing a Smart Grill line with four model options available. The Genesis II Gas Grill line will feature three models and the Spirit Gas Grill Line will feature one model. All Smart Grills from Weber, at this time, are only available in three burner models.

What Is The Difference Between The Weber Genesis Ii And The Weber Spirit Ii
The Weber Genesis II line is made in Made in North America where as the Spirit II is made overseas. A distinct difference is the lid, the Genesis II lid is double insulated steel whereas the Spirit II is much thinner. The Genesis II series also has more space to grill with compared to the Spirit II series.
Smarts That Target Cooking
The Weber Genesis II E-310 is among just a few backyard grills that support smart technology. Weber didn’t create this tech on its own –;it acquired the iGrill brand from iDevices, a line of Bluetooth, app-connected thermometers, including the $50 iGrill Mini.;
The latest product to join the iGrill line postacquisition is the $100 iGrill 3, and it works as an add-on to Weber’s Genesis II and Genesis II LX grills that fits into a physical socket on the front of those units. Weber pushes the iGrill 3 as an upgrade meant for its Genesis II grills alone but aside from the tailored receptacle, it will work fine with any brand of grill, it just won’t have a dedicated slot to mount it securely. ;
All of the various iGrill models link to the Weber mobile app, which lets you monitor the Genesis II wirelessly from a distance of 30 feet. The scope of the app is narrow compared to Char-Broil’s SmartChef application. SmartChef tackles lots of things besides food. It tracks propane levels, burner status and even tells you if the grill is cool enough to cover. Weber’s app just sticks to measuring temperatures of meat, fish and poultry as you cook.;
The Weber Genesis II supports useful smart cooking abilities but they don’t come standard.
