Fire Magic Echelon Diamond E1060 Gas Grill Review

By: Max Good

Echelon Diamond Series is Fire Magics top of the line and the E1060 is the largest model. The stainless steel cooking grates are thick and heavy. 16 gauge stainless steel flavor grids blanket the burners for even heat distribution and the four cast stainless steel E-burners, actually shaped more like an H, are super heavy duty and designed to spread flame throughout the firebox. One owner likened the intensity to a sea of fire. Access to burners is easy for cleaning, smoking, or setting up a rotisserie.

All models have hot surface electric ignition. Instead of generating a spark, it uses an igniter rod that gets red hot instantaneously. Fire Magic claims their hot surface ignition system is unaffected by moisture and designed to perform even in harsh environments. Echelons have built-in digital thermometers and meat probes, 12 deep firebox and double wall spring assisted hoods. Removable warming racks can be stored on brackets behind the hood. These brackets also hold the rotisserie spit. Backburners include a stainless steel cover for protection when not in use. Heavy is a word that came to mind when inspecting Echelons. Everything looks and feels solid.

The Fire Magic Echelon Diamond Series

The Echelon Diamond gas grills from Fire Magic are the pinnacle of their products. Here you find all their best features and the most solid construction. The biggest Grill, the Echelon Diamond E1060S weighs in at well over 800 pounds. Even the smaller, built-in models weigh nearly 300 pounds. That is just the grill head for outdoor kitchens without the cabinet. The reason for all this weight is in the quality of the components. From the cast stainless steel burners to the heavy cooking grates, every part of these grills is the top of the line.

But remember, you get what you pay for. The Fire Magic Echelon Diamond Gas Grills are among the most expensive gas grills in the world. Of course, the most expensive and best gas grill is the Kalamazoo K750HS Gas Grill, but that grill sells for at least $10,000 more. The Echelon Diamond Series includes freestanding as well as built-in gas grills. They range in size from 30-inch to 48 inches. They all come with built-in rotisserie burners. You can get a window in the lid and a number of side burner configurations. There are also options for a lid-mounted temperature gauge or a fully electronic temperature monitoring unit built in. And there are options for internal infrared sear burners.

Adjusting Your Fire Magic Bbq Air Shutters

This is a simple process and can really keep your grill responding to you changes in heat perfectly. The ideal position for the Air Shutters is when the flames burn blue and are just touching the burner. You do not want flames that burn orange or are not touching the burner. To adjust the flames you will remove the burner from the grill and use a screwdriver to free the shutter and allow you to close or open to allow for ideal burning. Be sure to always use caution when touching the burners after grilling as the burners can stay hot or warm for a long time after. We always recommend using heavily insulated heat resistant gloves when handling the burners.

Remember if your shutter is open too far, the flames shorten and lift off the burner. If the shutter is closed too far then the flames will appear lazy and burn orange. The ideal setting is when the burner flames are blue and are just touching the burner.

Heat Diffusing And Zone Cooking

How to Use the Digital Thermometer on Your Fire Magic Grill

Inside the cooking chamber of the Fire Magic Echelon Diamond is a fully sealed box. Between the burners are stainless steel separators. These channel the heat straight upwards. With this system, you can be searing a steak inches away from slow roasting vegetables. Heat is contained in the space where the burner sits.

Over the burners sit heat diffusers. These are strategically perforated for air and heat flow as evenly as possible. This is important and hard to do because of the high heat output of this grill. Each of these burners can put out 30,000 BTUs depending on the model.

Simply plug it into a standard 110V outlet and you are on your way. Its large heating element allows for both quick and hot cooking, with top temperatures of over 725 degrees Fahrenheit.

This might be the perfect addition to your next balcony cookout.

Find The Best Fire Magic Grills At A Low Price

Nothing beats backyard barbeques. Foods that come off the grill occupy an echelon character and flavor that is nearly impossible to emulate elsewhere. Taking the time to smoke pork ribs throughout the day or simply grilling a few ears of corn ushers in more than an unmatched payoff. Thats why you should only trust the top of the range grills and accessories to get the job done.

With over 80 years in the BBQ industry, Fire Magic Grills have reached the pinnacle of outdoor grilling experiences. If youre looking for performance, style, and quality rolled into one, your search ends here.

What Do The Reviews Say About These Grills

Fire magic built in charcoal grill 12

Well, this is an interesting one, as there arent many customer reviews out there. We took a look at an Echelon built-in burner on Amazon, and it seems to be a real love-it-or-hate-it piece of kit.

It attracted a bunch of five star and a bunch of one star reviews, with literally nothing in between. Those who loved it praised its many features while others complained about how quickly those features fail.

Professional reviewers on the other hand, just love Fire Magic. The Grilling Life review gave it five stars and a whole heap of praise, and Outdoor Cooking Pros love the attention to detail.
