Can You Convert A Weber Gas Grill To Propane
Weber Barbecue Grills CanGasPropaneWeber doesgasdoes
Propane offers some advantages over natural gas to certain users because propane canisters make the grill portable. Additionally, propane is readily available for purchase at gas stations and home improvement stores. Converting a natural gas BBQ to use propane can be done at home however, caution should be taken.
Subsequently, question is, how do you tell if a grill is propane or natural gas? The serial tag and rating plate contain the gas type information, either natural gas or liquid propane . If a gas product is converted to the other type of gas, a sticker is placed near the original serial tag and rating plate to indicate the gas type change.
Likewise, people ask, can you convert a Weber natural gas grill to propane?
Like converting the type of fuel used in any barbecue grill, converting Weber barbecue grills is not difficult. Fuel conversion means changing the in-coming gas connection, changing the regulator for liquid propane or natural gas and then changing each orifice for the type of fuel being regulated.
Can I use natural gas orifice for propane?
Natural gas is fed at a smaller pressure than propane, so to get the same heating value , a natural gas orifice has to be smaller than a propane one. This suggests that you can convert a natural gas appliance to a propane one and vice versa by changing the orifice on the gas valve.

I had to laugh when I saw the note about the C club on New Years Day 2005. I was smoking a turkey and realized when loading the charcoal, that I need a new charcoal grate. Its FINALLY giving out. I was checking your website and saw the thing about the letters stamped into the vents.
This has been one great smoker, consistent and easy to use! I cant remember where I got it or what I paid for it, but Ill buy another for surewhen this one cant be used anymore!
Are Natural Gas And Propane Grills The Same
Bottom line: there is NO performance difference between propane and natural gas unless youre grilling in the arctic. The only major difference is the convenience of natural gas and never running out of fuel. Your choice ultimately boils down to which fuel sources you have access to and the costs in your area.

Gas Grill: Why Don’t The Burners On My Gas Grill Get Gas
If the burners on your gas grill don’t get gas, first, check the tank’s propane level to make sure the tank has gas. Next, reset the pressure regulator to restore gas flow through the regulator if the regulator’s flow-limiting device tripped. Replace the pressure regulator if it doesn’t allow gas to flow to the manifold after resetting the flow-limiting device. Check the operation of the burner valves on the manifold and replace the manifold if gas doesn’t flow properly to the burner tubes when you open the manifold’s valves.
Gas won’t flow through misaligned burner tubes, so check and adjust burner tube alignment with the gas valves. Clogs in the burner tubes can also inhibit gas flow through the tubes. Clean clogs such as spider webs and spills from the burner tubes to restore gas flow through the tubes.
The Virtual Weber Gas Grill
Locating the model and serial number of your Weber gas grill can be tricky, especially on older grills that have been out in the weather for years. You may need your model and serial number when registering a gas grill with Weber Customer Service or when trying to order replacement parts from Weber.
On current and recent grills, the model and serial number are printed on a sticker inside the storage cabinet. Sometimes its horizontal, like in this Weber Summit S-670:
And the model and serial number are here:
Sometimes its vertical and part of a collection of stickers, like in this Weber Genesis S-310:
And the model and serial number are here:
On an old grill like the first generation Weber Genesis 2, the model and serial number are on a tiny sticker on the frame on the right side of the control panel:
L3 is the model number and the six digits are the serial number:
Unfortunately, on some models Weber places the model/serial number sticker on the exterior back panel or frame of the grill, where exposure to weather can cause it to fade or peel off. Most recently they did this on the 2017 Genesis II E-310:
And heres the model and serial number:

Weber Spirit E210 Vs Weber Spirit E310
Unsurprisingly, a lot of confusion can come up between the E210 and E310 models.
What do the two have in common and, more importantly, what sets them apart?
Both are very similar in build, and on the surface seem as sturdy and durable as one another. Both have excellent porcelain-enamelled cooking grates, and boast similar power capacity .
The E310 does have three burners rather than two, offering a little more cooking flexibility, however this doesnt make it significantly more powerful to the extent that you might expect.
For this reason, I would still recommend Webers Spirit E-210 over the E-310. The added cost for the latter just isnt justified by what you get in return.

How Do I Convert A Propane Grill To Natural Gas
You can convert your propane grill to natural gas with a simple procedure and some help from your grill dealer and natural gas company. Whether converting a barbecue grill, mobile home grill or propane stove to natural gas, you only need to change the size of the orifice that allows gas to meet the flame and burn. With mobile home grills and stoves, you buy kits that include simple instructions you can do yourself. With barbecue grills, you will need some help to convert your propane grill the natural gas.
The reason different sized orifices are needed to convert a propane stove or grill to natural gas has to do with the composition of these two different gases. Natural gas requires 40% more air to burn than propane does and it is delivered at a lower pressure than propane. This means the orifice must be 2.5 times bigger to allow for the additional air and lower gas pressure.
Kits can be difficult to find for converting a propane grill to natural gas. Homeowners must either drill out the present orifice to make it larger, or purchase a new orifice of the proper size if they want a natural gas grill. Drilling an orifice can be difficult and is best done with a drill press. Check with your dealer to find out the correct orifice size to drill.

There is a lot to love about Weber’s Genesis II Smart Grill, but let’s begin with how well it’s designed. The generous cooking surface is big enough to serve a large party, and incorporates a super-hot “sear zone”, which is great for getting that perfect crust on your steaks or burgers without overcooking them or putting perfect grill marks on a larger protein that has been doing an indirect heat cook. It has a side burner which is great for everything from cooking a side dish without having to run in and out of your kitchen or keeping basting liquids warm but has a cover so that it becomes extra organization space when not in use. Lighting makes nighttime cooking a breezewhich is great for those of us who grill after daylight savings time kicks in and don’t fancy buying a headlampand the tuck-away warming rack lets you keep finished food warm while the rest keep cooking.

How Do I Know My Weber Grill Model
If your grill was made from 1979 to 2014, the top vent on the lid will have one of these serial numbers which is a one or two lettered date code listed below. Beginning in 2013, a serial number was added just above the two letter date code.
Secondly, do Weber grills have a lifetime warranty? One of the perks of owning a Weber grill is our best-in-class warranty program. All current generation Spirit II, Genesis II, Genesis II LX, and Summit Gas series models purchased after 10/1/17 feature full 10 year warranties on all components, excluding normal wear and tear.
Considering this, what year is my Weber gas grill?
Webers model year runs from October 1 to September 30. For example, a grill with date code DE is part of the 2009 model year and may have been manufactured anytime between 10/1/2008 and 9/30/2009.
Where are Weber gas grills manufactured?
Weber grills have been made in the United States since 1952, when George Stephen built his kettle grill from a buoy at Weber Brothers Metal Works in Mount Prospect, Ill. All but one of latest models are still manufactured in Palatine, Ill.
The Smart Tech That Wins The Day
But it is the smart tech that really takes this grill to a whole new place. It has an easy-to-read digital display which will tell you not only the temperature of your grill, but also your fuel level. The unit connects to WiFi and your smartphone, so you can get alerts on low fuel or cooking process from anywhere. Using the included smart probe will do more than just tell you what temperature your protein is at, it will prompt you when items need to be flipped, are ready to rest, and when to serve! You can purchase a second probe if you have one of those houses where someone likes things rare and someone likes them well-done, or if you have a tendency to cook different proteins at the same time.
Being able to know what is happening inside your grill without opening the lid or going to check in person is a godsend for entertaining, keeping you with your guests and not minding the food as much, not to mention amazing for cold weather grilling when you want to be outside as little as possible and maintain the heat in your grill.

Why Does Weber Refuse To Support Gas To Propane Grill Conversions
In the past, Weber was famous for making a point of encouraging people to convert their grills. However, the standards that they had changed as a result of new updates to propane safety. If done incorrectly, a propane grill conversion could cause a massive explosion that results in fire and death.
Because there have been issues with conversions in the past, Weber will actually void your grills warranty if there is evidence that you tried to convert it. Thats really important if you want to make sure that you keep your warranty intact. Now that weve explained the risks, we might as well add that this is still frequently done. Replace The Gas Grill Pressure Regulator
If the pressure regulator isn’t working properly, first reset the pressure regulator, following the instructions in your owner’s manual. To reset most pressure regulators, shut off the gas supply valve at the tank, disconnect the hose/regulator from the tank, wait 30 seconds and then reconnect the hose/regulator. Slowly open the gas supply valve on the tank. If the regulator still doesn’t work properly, replace it.
