It was perfect for when we were are cooking weeknight meals for just our family. How Do You Start A Gas Grill
To start cooking on a gas grill, open the valve of the propane tank all the way, and open the lid of the grill. Most modern gas grills have an igniter button, in which case, you’ll simply turn the first burner on high and push the button. For grills without an igniter button, use a long match or lighter wand to light the initial burner. From here, you can turn the other burners to high, then close the lid to let it pre-heat.

How Do You Clean A Gas Grill
Every time you use your gas grill, you’ll want to clean off the grates using a grill brush or other tool. This is easiest to do while the grill is still warm, as food particles and grease haven’t hardened yet. If you have cast iron grates, you’ll also want to brush some oil onto the grates after cleaning. You should also brush off the sides and lid of your grill after each use.
Periodically, you’ll also want to deep clean your grill. Every month or so, it’s important to clean off the barrier above the burners, and once a year, take your grill apart to inspect the burners and clean the grilling chamber thoroughly with soap and water.

How Do You Start A Charcoal Grill
There are several ways to light a charcoal grill, but the best option is to use a chimney starter. All you do is place crumpled newspaper in the bottom of the tool with charcoal on top, and after you light the bottom, your charcoal will be ready to add to the grill in around 10 minutes.
Another option is to use an electric charcoal lighter, which you put on the grill along with charcoal to bring the coals up to temperature.

Heston’s take on the Big Green Egg barbecue
Food sorcerer Heston Blumenthal swaggers into the arena of Japanese kamado-style charcoal grills , giving Big Green Egg a very good run for its readies. The Everdure 4K certainly has enough innovative touches to achieve it. With its extra insulation and beautifully machined die-cast aluminium body that doesnt get hot, this barbecue is capable of grilling, searing, roasting, baking and smoking, though not all at the same time, obviously.
The 4K comes with a relatively small 18-inch grill grate and features Fast Flame ignition using an electric hob type ring, so you will need to find a nearby electricity outlet to use it. Once fired up, the lids oven-type seal keeps the heat in for up to eight hours at time if slow cooking or smoking and on just one kilogram of charcoal. Other fine design flourishes include numbered aluminium air flow valves, an interior light, a handy front drawer to store the four meat probes it comes with and a clever charcoal top-up portal on the side. The LED displays a nice addition, too, though it is very difficult to read in bright sunlight.
On a positive parting note, it does at least come with a tidy package of goodies pizza stone, charcoal tongs, roasting rack, those four temperature probes and an all-important cover. Oh, and you’ll be pleased to hear it doesnt require much assembly.

Flaws But Not Dealbreakers
The 22-inch Weber Original Kettle Premium is short. The grates are just 27 inches from the ground. Compare that against the standard kitchen-counter height of 36 inches, and you quickly grasp the reality we experienced: Its a literal, if passing, pain in the ass to spend a lot of time working over the grates. Granted, you spend 90 percent of your grilling time standing around waiting for stuff to cook, not leaning over the coals. But the Napoleon, which we otherwise didnt love, is a generous 34 inches in height at the grate, and that made it a pleasure to work on. Given Webers attention to engineering details, we suspect the low height is by design. For the same reason, we believe Weber could do things differentlyand better.
The Weber grill has three legsan inherently stable design, because having three points of contact means the legs will automatically find their level even on bumpy ground. That said, the Napoleon models four legs felt just as stable, and more stiff, on a garden-variety concrete patioand also allowed Napoleon to install a big, square shelf underneath the grill. The Weber grill has a smaller, triangular shelf, but its far less useful.
Finally, the Weber model doesnt come with a grill cover. We think every grill should, even though most dont. Weber sells one for its 22-inch kettle for about $40.

The Weber Q series are some of the best portable gas grills on the market, and the Q1200 is no exception. While its not one of the best Q series models, it does have a much more reasonable price than many, with decent cooking power.

There really isnt a lot of competition out there in the $200-$400 price range that gives the Weber a run for its money in the charcoal smoker family.
All of the budget options will require a lot of modifying unless you want to deal with a poorly insulated, difficult to use smoker.
