Follow along and we will show you how to turn that monster hunk of meat into manageable steaks you can grill, smoke, or freeze.

The Reverse Grilled Steak

This method is quite similar to the one above but renders a juicier steak it takes more patience too.

Light up the grill and cook your steak on the cooler side. Once it reaches the right core temperature, transfer it to the hottest spot on the grid and caramelize the exterior. If you want the perfect color and texture, this method is better for you, since you have more control over the results. If you´re going for a more well done steak, the traditional Grilled Steak method might be right for you.

How To Grill Prime Rib Roast

Step 1: Rinse your roast under cold water. Pat dry with paper towels and place roast on wire cooling rack. Salt all sides of the roast with coarse sea salt and place in the refrigerator for 3 days.

TIP: Place a plate under your roast in case it drips while drying.

Step 2: Preheat your grill to 225235 degrees.

Step 3: While the grill is preheating, prepare your prime rib by applying a light coat of olive oil over the entire roast. I use this spray bottle for olive oil but use what you have.

Step 4: In a mixing bowl, whisk together all ingredients for the beef rub. Apply liberally over the entire roast. On top of the beef rub, sprinkle chopped fresh rosemary. Allow roast to sit on the counter and come up towards room temperature while your grill preheats.

Step 5: Insert a reliable meat thermometer in the roast, place roast on grill over indirect heat, as far from the heat source as possible. Be sure to place the roast with the bones facing the heat source. I cant stress enough the importance of using a reliable meat thermometer, it can be the difference between perfection and disaster with an expensive cut of meat. Dont ask me how I know.

Step 6: When the internal temperature reaches 122 degrees , remove the roast from the grill and set aside. Increase the direct-heat zone of your grill to extra-high.

Step 7: Place the roast directly over high heat for a total of 5 minutes, turning often so that all sides get a nice crust built up.

Whats The Best Steak Marinade

There are two major components to every marinade that has to be there to be the best. Some form of acid, and some form of sweetness.

The acid tenderizes the meat. Acids include citrus juice or vinegar. Worcestershire sauce has a high level of acid in it, being our tenderizer for this marinade.

The sweetness helps to get that caramelized flavor, or umami, that makes grilled meats extra flavorful. In this recipe for the best steak marinade, I use brown sugar as our sweet component.

However, you can also use honey, granulated sugar, or other natural forms of sweeteners in its place.

Now that we have our two crucial ingredients, acid and sugar, other ingredients in the best steak marinade include seasonings of black pepper, Montreal steak seasoning, and salt, thats it! Super basic ingredients you probably already have in your own kitchen.

How To Grill A Perfect Ribeye Steak On A Gas Grill

You cant beat the flavor of a ribeye. If youre not familiar with how to cook this cut of beef, its simple on a gas grill. Follow the steps below to cook the perfect ribeye at your next backyard barbecue.

Ribeye steaks are one of the most flavorful cuts of meat because of their marbling, or fat content. The more marbling, the higher the USDA grades the steak. Prime is the highest rating, followed by Choice and then Select. Our experts recommend buying ribeyes that 1.25 inches thick with marbling throughout. Anything much thicker or thinner could make cooking more difficult, and the fat enhances the flavor.

Is Red Meat Safe

Whether you prefer rib eye or prime rib steak, enjoy it in moderation. According to a June 2017 review published in the International Journal of Preventive Medicine, red meat doesn’t significantly raise the risk of heart disease when consumed in moderate amounts. This risk is largely associated with the fat and preservatives in meat. To stay safe, choose unprocessed, lean cuts and trim any visible fat.

Another review, featured inExperimental Biology and Medicine in April 2017, assessed the relationship between red meat consumption and colon cancer. As it turns out, there isn’t enough evidence to confirm the association between the two. Most studies conducted so far have involved subjects who consumed large amounts of meat and few fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Some were conducted on animals, so it’s hard to tell how their findings translate to humans.

As the World Health Organization notes, red meat is considered a potential carcinogenic. This classification, however, is based on limited evidence. The risk of colon cancer, heart disease and other illnesses increases with the amount of meat consumed. An occasional steak is unlikely to affect cardiovascular health or lead to cancer. Like with everything else, moderation is the key.

Be sure to use a drip pan with water directly underneath the meat to stabilize the temperature. For backyard smokers, set it up for a long smoke. Learn more about smoking here. With either method, add 3-4 large wood chunks to the top of the charcoal prior to placing the meat on the smoker or grill.

Is Prime Rib And Ribeye The Same

Both Prime Rib and Ribeye Steaks come from the same cut, the “primal” beef rib cut. While the two steaks seem similarly named, the biggest difference is in how you cut and cook them. If you go to your butcher and as for “prime rib”, he may bring out a huge chunk of meat and ask if you want it whole However, when you go to a steakhouse and order “Prime Rib” you are served a steak. So what gives?

The difference is that a prime rib steak is cut from a prime rib roast that has been cooked. When you order a ribeye steak, the butcher has cut that piece from the larger, uncooked standing rib roast. You’ll find bone-in, boneless, and the extravagant looking tomahawk steak .

    Preheat The Traeger Grill

While the rib-eye steak absorbs some of the seasonings, fill up your Traeger grill with wood pellets. Start the fire and then set the grill to 325 degrees Fahrenheit for the grilling of the steak.

The benefit of using a Traeger grill is you also do not have to stand beside the grill to make sure that the fire does not go out. You can set and forget the grill while you do other activities.

If you have the Traeger grill with the feature, just sit back and wait for the grill to reach the desired temperature and check it on your smartphone if the temperature is steadily climbing.

Just before the grill reaches the desired temperature, get the rib-eye steak out of the fridge and then let it sit at room temperature for at least 15 minutes to thaw it a little bit before cooking.
