Cons

Is Seasoning Your Grill The Same For All Types Of Grills

Yes. You can follow the same simple steps for seasoning charcoal grills, gas grills and pellet grills. Both cast-iron and steel grates will benefit from seasoning. But keep in mind, porcelain grates do not need to be seasoned.

Consider Using A Chimney Fire Starter

You can do things the traditional way, by placing scrunched up newspaper balls in the bottom of the barbecue, then topping this with dry twigs or kindling, then piling your charcoal on top.

However, using a chimney barbecue starter to light and burn your charcoal can help get things going faster.

‘The cylindrical shape of the starter means the charcoal lights quickly and evenly as the flames funnel up due to the chimney effect,’ our Weber expert told us. ‘Once the flames start licking through the top – usually in around 20 minutes – theyre ready to pour into your barbecue.’

Using a chimney starter can also help measure out the correct amount of charcoal for what you’re cooking. Weber recommends filling 1/3 of a chimney starter with charcoal for a low heat of 90-160°C, filling half a chimney starter for an ideal roasting temperature of 180°C-230°C, or using a full chimney starter for a high heat of 230°C-290°C if you want to sear steaks.

How To Light A Pellet Grill

Pellet grills are prized for their ease of use, and the ignition process is a great example of that. As always with pellet grill operation, make sure your grill is plugged in and that the hopper is full of pellets before you get started. Most models have some sort of prime button, which you need to hold down to ensure there are enough pellets in the firebox for proper lighting.

Once your grill has been primed, open the lid and use the pellet grills control dial or knobs to turn the grill to the smoke setting . Leave the lid up until you see steady smoke coming from the grill. This is the indicator that pellets have started burning well enough to sustain a fire. From there, close the lid and adjust the setting to your desired temperature. The whole process should take about 5 minutes at most perfect for those like us who get a little impatient when it comes to BBQ.

In Summary Here Are The Steps In Troubleshooting Your Ignition :

Blaze Outdoor Products – DIY Change your light harness

1. Do you hear a hard snap or continual clicking?

2. Replace the battery.

3. Check the wires that are plugged into the spark generator. Make sure they are securely plugged in and not frayed.

4. Make sure the electrode is not broke or cracked.

5. Adjust the metal tip at the end of the electrode and place closer to burner.

6. You can also remove the ignition system and plug in the electrodes and place on a metal surface. If you see sparking, the entire ignition system works.

Here is a video showing how to connect and troubleshoot a spark module.

Our best advice to people we speak with is “maintenance is key.” Cleaning your grill will provide years of safe use. You can clean and maintain your grill yourself or find a local grill cleaning professional that will be able to perform this service for you. At least once a year, the internal “guts” of the grill should be removed and degreased and checked to be sure that they are not corroded. These parts include cooking grates, heat plates and burners. Also, you may notice a black coating of soot inside the grill hood. This can also be degreased.

Use a grill degreaser to clean the cooking grated, hood interior and heat plates . To clean your burner use a brass bristle brush and take a small drill bit to clear out the holes that surround the burner. Be sure there are no structural holes around the burner and there is no rust that has penetrated the cooking grates as if there are, these items will need to be replaced.

Which Is The Best Blaze Grill And Why

From our Blaze Gas grill reviews, we selected the 32-inch burner gas grill from Blaze Grill. We have chosen this Blaze Gas grill because it comes with a seamless design and has flame-stabilizing grids that will reduce flare-ups to add more flavor to food. It has a large and efficient dripping tray to catch all drips and dirt from the grill. And because of this, it is easier to clean.

The total BTU is 66,000 and has heat separators, a push-button handy flame thrower, and anignition system, so startups are quick and easy. Another reason is this grill has a larger cooking space at 738 square inches with a removable warming rack. Damaged Gas Grill Ignition Module

The ignition module sends current to the igniter electrode that arcs to light the gas. If the igniter electrode won’t spark, first check the ignition module battery and replace it if it’s dead.

If the ignition module still doesn’t send current to the igniter electrode, replace the ignition module using the instructions in our DIY repair guide How to replace a gas grill ignition module.

Do You Have To Season A New Grill

Yes! You should always season a new grill. Oiling and heating the grill will create a protective barrier that prevents rust. Seasoning is also what creates a nonstick surface on your grates so that you dont end up with a frustrating mess of stuck-on food the first time you try out the grill. Plus, the high heat process of seasoning will burn off any dust or other contaminants that are left on the grates during the manufacturing process.

Remember to use this seasoning process every time you use your grill. A well-seasoned grill is the best way to maintain the performance of your grill for many seasons to come.

Place Your Charcoal Carefully

If your barbecue doesn’t have a lid and you want an even temperature across the cooking surface of the barbecue grill, spread out your coals. If you want a hotter area in the middle for searing, but a cooler temperature around the edges for slower cooking right through your food, leave the charcoal piled up in the centre of the barbecue.

If your barbecue has a lid, this will help regulate the temperature inside anyway, so where your charcoal ends up is less of an issue.
