Grilling Space On A Kamado
Smaller grilling space is something that youll have to get used to with a kamado, if youre new to it. Gas grills often have tons of space kamados, not so much, and what you get is round .
There is a fairly wide range of sizes available if you look around . Of course, the more space you require for cooking, the bigger the dome will need to be .
Several kamados reviewed below have a primary and a secondary cooking surface so you can double your cooking space, or a way to create dual cooking zones with one grate. Because of the way the heat circulates inside, you can actually cook on the secondary surfaces and not just warm things itll just be at a slightly lower temperature than on the primary grate, which is closer to the fire.
Work space around the grill is another aspect to consider. When youre grilling, you do need to have somewhere to put utensils, sauces and seasonings, plates, and other grilling necessities. While some people have a great set up on their deck or patio already, its worth it to consider getting a model with sides or a table to go with/beside it.

Monolith Bbq Guru Edition Pro Series 20
THE SMART ONE.The Monolith BBQ Guru Edition was developed in collaboration with our American partner BBQ Guru. The Monolith is perfect for electronic temperature control, which is why we developed the Monolith Classic and LeChef with integrated blower.
With sleek design and effortless connectivity the oven temperature is determined using a thermal sensor and passed on to a controller via cable. The controller* modulates the integrated blower, which regulates the glow of the embers by means of the amount of oxygen blown in. In addition, the controller detects when the lid is open and adjusts the air supply for the time of opening.
COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE GRILLFor the Monolith BBQ Guru Edition there are two different controllers. In addition to the pit temperature, the BBQ Guru can also display the core temperature of the food via an additional temperature sensor. With the top-of-the-line BBQ Guru UltraQ, you can connect to a cloud via Wifi and thus access a database that stores the history of past grilling processes and additionally offers a large number of grilled recipes. In addition, the controller can be paired with any smartphone or tablet. The UltraQ model has three additional food probes, the DynaQ model just one.
Monolith Pro Series Smart Grid System
The ceramic grill offer unrivalled quality and versatility of cooking but if there’s ever been a criticism it’s that all the food is vertically stacked and you can only access a ceramic grill from the top. This means that should you wish to access the lower cooking grates you have to take all the food, grill grates etc. out of the grill…well not any more.
The Monolith Smart Grid System seats heat deflector stones, half moon drip trays and half moon grill grates in a frame that can be easily and safely lifted in and out of the grill anytime during the cook using a detachable lifting tool. Given how many times I’ve struggled with lifting things in and out of my Monolith I think this is a major boon.
The wooden handle has four “legs” which hook under the top of the frame and then you lift. Locating all four legs at once takes a little practice but once you’ve mastered the art, it’s a really simple manoeuvre.
The stainless steel drip pans work well to keep fats from hitting soiling the deflector stones and they interlock which is handy. Sadly they’re not deep enough to act as a water bath.

Is The Kamado Joe Grill Value For Money
With so many different models and price brackets these days it’s easy to get confused.
The table below compares the cost to buy the large / classic family sized ceramic grill from each of the top 3 brands which I think sends out a clear message in terms of value for money…it’s a choice between the Kamado Joe grill and the Monolith Ceramic grill.
It also begs the question why any sane person would spend more money to buy a Big Green Egg that has less features and benefits.
