Don Juan Mexican Bar & Grill Expanding To Downtown Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio, March 29, 2021 ProMedica is pleased to announce a new restaurant coming to downtown Toledo. Don Juan Express & Cantina will be opening a new location in The Plaza, which is part of ProMedicas downtown campus located at 300 Madison Avenue. The restaurant is expected to open in early July 2021.
Don Juan Express & Cantina will be the Don Juan Mexican Bar & Grill owners third restaurant in Northwest Ohio and first of the Express brand. Don Juan Mexican Bar & Grills existing locations are at the Franklin Park Mall and in Maumee.
Don Juan Express & Cantina will have the same authentic Mexican cuisine at affordable prices as our other locations. However, this location will be distinctive as it is designed to cater to employees of downtown businesses and downtown residents who are looking for a quick, high-quality, lunch or dinner option that is within walking distance, said Alberto Dominguez Martinez, owner. Were thrilled to be part of the reinvention of Downtown Toledo and offer something unique.
The Plaza is being redesigned to offer exterior seating and a large patio for patrons of Don Juan Express & Cantina. Adjacent to the patio will be a pedestrian boardwalk to encourage foot traffic and easy access between North St. Clair Street and Summit Street.
A Legend In The Making
The legend that would eventually inspire the opening of Don Juans Mexican Kitchen in Tenino, was born in 1934 in the small town of Salvatierra in Guanajuato, Mexico.
She made it her mission to refine and preserve the authentic Mexican cuisine recipes of her family, while sharing them at her table with loved ones and friends.
Her son Juan married Eva, who shared Señora Luchas passion for beautiful food and quickly became her understudy. Spending evening after evening to learn Mexican cuisine magic from the legend herself.
From the art of blending spices and peppers to make a unique salsa to understanding the science behind a perfect Mole and how to make the worlds best flan, Eva slowly mastered the art Señora Lucha was lovingly teaching her.
In 2012, the Martinez family decided to open the original Don Juans Mexican Kitchen in Tenino and share Señora Luchas beautiful recipes with all of you and the rest is history!
This new website is dedicated to the loving memory of Maria De La Luz Lucha Moreno De Martinez, who passed on this year and is most likely smiling down on us while cooking up a storm.

So fresh and tasty
First time here. Walked in & the aroma of mexican food was delicious. We had the soft chicken tacos and was NOT disappoint. They were so fresh and tasty. The guy who waited on us was very friendly and helpful. Very casual atmosphere and definitely will go back. Good job!!

So much flavor
Ordered tonight for the first time with Uber eats and got the nachos and they were amazing! So much flavor, huge portion size and the chips were great! We will def be ordering again!

Quick and easy
My family and I just ordered dinner here tonight through Doordash and picked it up. It was quick and easy. The burrito was massive and the tacos were full and tasty. I have had tacos from other restaurants that have hardly any filling but rest assured, the 3-taco meal from Juans is a substantial dinner. Despite being full, the tacos were not greasy. Great food!
