The Sizzler Pro burner size ranges from 26 to 40, and thats the case with both built-in and freestanding models. If you want something even larger, the TRLD grill has a 44 burner. Theyre solidly made grills. For example, the 44 inch TRL Deluxe built-in Summerset grill weighs 229 pounds.
Naturally, the freestanding models are much larger. The biggest is the 44 inch grill, with the whole unit measuring W: 71 x D 25.5 x H 46.5. We couldnt find the weight of these mighty grills, but we reckon theyre pretty solid

Founder And Ceo Jeff Straubel Balances Domestic And Offshore Manufacturing To Create A Notably Broad Catalog
Straubel transformed his personal passion for grilling into a career. “I love the barbecue business and I had an opportunity with some people in the business,” he says. “I actually started out just building for other brands as an OEM provider, and importing for them. As things evolved, we went from building a few things to importing a lot. We then began importing our own brand and now we’re building our own products in-house.”
Summerset Grills manufactures grills for every style and price range, with the lower-level lines currently being imported from China and Taiwan. “I feel very proud that we’re now bringing a lot of the work back to California,” says Straubel. “It’s a big risk and a big undertaking as it’s like starting a whole new business again. We invested a couple of million dollars a few years ago, bought automated equipment, and began bringing a lot of our stuff back.”
According to Straubel, manufacturing grills in the U.S. has changed a lot over the years. “Back in the ’90s, I manufactured gas logs and grills,” he says. “I’ve always enjoyed it because you have a lot of flexibility, and you can express your design and engineering. You can’t do that very well when you’re just importing a product.”
The company has two locations in Southern California: Summerset’s manufacturing facility in Huntington Beach focuses on the metalwork of the grills, while a second operation in Corona specializes in building outdoor kitchens.

Where Are Summerset Grills Manufactured
The usual story is that small, made-in-the-USA grill manufacturers become successful, then have to start shipping in parts for their products. Summerset is kind of the other way around. The company began by importing grills from overseas, but as their brand grew, they actually started making them in the USA.
These days, they still import some items; however the Builder, Alturi, and American Muscle series grills are made in the US, as are some of their outdoor kitchen parts . Even the steel they use is made in the USA. The TLR and Sizzler series are, we believe, still imported, as are a few of the components.
How Much Do Summerset Grills Cost
Prices vary depending on size and features, but on the whole, Summerset grills arent budget models, but are aimed at people looking for quality components and a pro-style cooking experience.
The 26 built-in Sizzler is around $1,300, and the freestanding version is less than $2,000 a good option if you want Summerset quality but want to set yourself a budget. The Sizzler Pro series has a few more features so costs a bit more: the freestanding 40 grill is approximately $3,500.
Moving up the ranges, the TRL deluxe 44 model is over $4,100, while its freestanding equivalent is about $5,730. At the top end, the Alturi freestanding 42 grill will set you back $7,700: this feature-rich grill was made in the USA from quality 304 stainless steel. This means that if your grill is built in the US, itslikely to be built by people who have been compensated fairly. Likewise, theenvironment likely wasnt harmed in its creation.
2. The frustration of not having access toparts such as grease trays, valves, manifolds, knobs, wheels, and bodyparts. These are just some of the parts you may not be able to replace. Many ofthe parts are only available on the aftermarket . Remember when you import products, you are subject to minimum quantity orders.When you have dozens of models using the same burners and heat shields, meetingthat MOQ is easier than other replacement parts thatare specific to model sizes.
3. There is no commitment to manufacturingequipment. When manufacturing is subcontracted, you are relying on thecontractor to stay in business and have quality and consistent manufacturing. Often, if they change equipment, the engineering of your grill model willchange thus making replacement parts obsolete. Then, when you need areplacement part, it no longer exists.
At that point, what are the replacementoptions? Often there is no replacement. Modification of the outdoor kitchen andcountertop becomes necessary, creating a huge expense. This situation rarelyoccurs in a US-manufactured grill, as we sell at the BBQ Depot.

Are All Imported Grills Bad
Does this mean all imported grills are bad? Notnecessarily. But as mentioned earlier, they are not held to the same standardsthat American-made grills are held to. You can feel the quality difference.
BBQ Depot does sell some imported brandsincluding Summerset and Blaze.This is because these brands have shown product support. It may take months andmonths for parts, but eventually those parts become available. With that being said, there are definitely quality issues as well asmanufacturing choices that can end up turning into a headache for the consumer.For example, these grills use flame thrower valves. If you need to replaceyour ignition electrode, you will have to replace the entire valve. Thiscreates a large expense for an inexpensive part. Since the electrode is builtinto the valve, there is not a replacement for it.
There is much that could be said about eachindividual brand that imports their grills. Since a large part of our businessinvolves service and selling replacement parts, we are frequently put in thedifficult position of explaining to customers why there is no product supportfor their grills.
Because of this, we have had to make thedifficult choice of not displaying imported grills in our showroom. When wedisplay a grill and a customer purchases that grill, they hold us accountablefor the quality of the product.
