Why Are They Called Flavorizer Bars
One of the reasons that Weber gas grills work so well is because of a feature called Flavorizer bars. These are the inverted v-shaped pieces of steel that sit below the cooking grates and above the burner tubes. Protect The Burner Tubes: Flavorizer bars prevent debris from clogging the burner tube ports.
Is A Weber Grill Worth The Price
The fact is that Weber grills are worth it to some people but not to others. If you grill often then it makes sense to spend the money on a Weber, as theyre grills are known for lasting a long time and they come with a 10 year warranty. I was attending an estate auction when I came across a box which appeared to have a small charcoal grill in it. Upon further inspection, I noticed it was a Weber smoker.
I was sure someone was gonna outbid me, but I won at $18. When I got home, I removed the smoker from the box and found out that it had never been used. I did not know much about the art of smoking or about these smokers until I stumbled across your site.
Well, I have been smoking this little guy every weekend since and the whole family loves the meals this thing turns out. This smoker has been a blast to use along with your site, and it will be smoking for a long time to come.

The owner told me that he had received this smoker from his sister in Scotland, but they never used it. As you can imagine, I am very pleased to own such an old, special WSM.

After deciding that a Weber Smokey Mountain was the best bet for great BBQ at a reasonable price, I set off to find a smoker. I found this smoker through an online estate auction. The colored manual pictured in the auction led me to believe that it was an early model. As I read more, I got excited that I could be looking at an early 1980s model of the WSM. A few others drove the price up to $80, which I was glad to pay.
When I picked up the item I was pleased to find that the only parts that needed to be replaced were the food grates. It even came with the original teak wood handle in good condition as well as the original assembly guide and full color manual. I got excited when I saw the C date code stamp. I opted to purchase a new door since the original had obvious air gaps and was rather rusty due to its time in the elements. I was amazed at the wonderful condition of the rest of the unit. The legs are rusted over, but the porcelain finish is still in great condition. The charcoal grate is a bit rusty, but perfectly usable.

I rescued this bad boy from the back porch of my sisters place, where it had gathered dust since my fathers passing five years ago. Before looking, I was pretty confident it would be a C model, since my Dad was always trying out new grills and loved Weber products. I now consider this WSM a family heirloom.

Weber Spirit Vs Genesis Whats The Big Difference
The Spirit and Genesis are the two most popular gas grill lines that Weber
The Spirit II line is Weber s entry-level range of gas grills designed for people who prioritize value for money over extra features.
The Genesis is made for grilling enthusiasts who are willing to pay more for higher quality and extra functionality.
The Genesis lineup has been upgraded in Spring of 2022 with what Weber claim is their biggest gas grilling innovation in 15 years.
Well get into whats new and see if that claim stacks up in a little bit.
The new models are just called Genesis, while the previous generated that was updated in 2019 goes by Genesis II. Weber could have made things easy for us and gone with the obvious Genesis III but that would have been too logical.
So dont be confused if you see a new Genesis and think that the Genesis II is better.
To keep things confusing the most up-to-date Spirit lineup still goes by Spirit II!
At the time of writing, you can still buy the older Genesis models at a discount, so if you arent impressed with the new features its a good chance to get a great grill at a discounted price.
Key differences between Spirit and Genesis grills:
Both ranges include a smart grill or SX option as well.
The Genesis and Spirit share the same 10-year warranty on the burner tubes, cooking grates, and flavorizer bars, while the Genesis offers 12 years on the cook box and lid.
Flaws But Not Dealbreakers
We wish Weber would take a cue from some competitors and make the bars of its warming racks run front to back, parallel to the main grates. That way, you could easily slide a spatula under stuff thats warming. As it is, the warming-rack bars run edge to edge, and you have to awkwardly jimmy a spatula in there sideways.
The Spirit II E-310 should come with a grill cover. It doesnt, nor did any grill in our test group. Youll need to buy one separately Webers dedicated Spirit II cover costs about $55, and a well-regarded generic cover costs about $20.

Where Is Serial Number On Weber Spirit Grill
Located within the tank panel on all grills.
Serial figures would be the single best tool for identifying a Weber propane gas grill, and each propane gas grill that Weber makes has one. Weber charcoal designs include serial figures too, but theyre much more essential to have when confronted with a propane gas grill, because of the gas train parts involved.
The Virtual Weber Gas Grill
Locating the model and serial number of your Weber gas grill can be tricky, especially on older grills that have been out in the weather for years. You may need your model and serial number when registering a gas grill with Weber Customer Service or when trying to order replacement parts from Weber.
On current and recent grills, the model and serial number are printed on a sticker inside the storage cabinet. Sometimes its horizontal, like in this Weber Summit S-670:
And the model and serial number are here:
Sometimes its vertical and part of a collection of stickers, like in this Weber Genesis S-310:
And the model and serial number are here:
On an old grill like the first generation Weber Genesis 2, the model and serial number are on a tiny sticker on the frame on the right side of the control panel:
L3 is the model number and the six digits are the serial number:
Unfortunately, on some models Weber places the model/serial number sticker on the exterior back panel or frame of the grill, where exposure to weather can cause it to fade or peel off. Most recently they did this on the 2017 Genesis II E-310:
And heres the model and serial number:
