Dinner At Geyser Point Bar & Grill

Geyser Point Bar And Grill Wilderness Lodge – Disney Dining Review

Geyser Point Bar & Grill, located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, is a hybrid of quick service and table service dining options. That’s because you can order from a quick service counter or dine in the lounge/bar area of the restaurant. We really enjoy Geyser Point Bar & Grill for it’s affordable and delicious sandwiches — and especially for their gluten free waffle fries! Recently we stopped by Geyser Point for a late dinner after a movie at Disney Springs.

Geyser Point Bar And Grill Review

Geyser Point Bar and Grill is one of those dining locations that I wish there were more of at Walt Disney World. The restaurant is nestled along the shores of Bay Lake at Disneys Wilderness Lodge.

In this Geyser Point Bar and Grill review, well preview the menu and take a closer look at a few specific items weve tried to date. Ill also share with you a few tips for dining here throughout the various seasons of the year.

Geyser Point sits underneath a large covered pavilion open to the elements. The lounge-style restaurant has a rustic vibe similar to everything else at the resort.

When you step inside the space, youll find casual seating areas, tables with chairs, and a large bar that anchors the center of the dining area.

This article was last updated on February 9, 2022.

Elements like stacked stone, large beams, and a couple of flat-screen TVs contribute to the restaurants design. But the ever-changing views out toward the water are what makes Geyser Point such a desirable location for lunch or dinner at Disney.

Not only that, but Geyser Point doesnt take or require reservations. And the price of a meal here is nothing to complain about when dining at Walt Disney World.

Those staying at Wilderness Lodge will want to plan a meal or two here during their vacation. Additionally, for many, the boat ride over to the resort will be worth the trouble to enjoy a late afternoon or evening at Geyser Point.

Review: Geyser Point Bar And Grill

by Mickey Blog·May 16, 2018

While the classics like Whispering Canyon Café and the impeccably-themed lobby make it familiar and homey, Wilderness Lodge has a newness about it that leaves plenty to discover! With a brand-new pool and new Vacation Club cabins on the shores of the river open for guests, the renovations at this Resort make visiting a must. While youre checking out the new pool and cabins, you might want to consider stopping off at Geyser Point Bar and Grill for a full-immersion into the Resorts renovations. I visited just a few weeks ago for the first time everand to say that I was surprised would be an understatement.

Quick Service But It Feels Like Table Service

Geyser Point has more than one type of service you can sit down and dine or you can order through the quick service window and take it back to your room, eat out in one of the chairs along the lake or take it by the pool and relax.

If you wish to dine in and eat you can either check in with the hostess to put your name in or you can now put your name in through the My Disney Experience app if you are on location. Either way they will give you a wait time you can return to be seated. If you choose to use the app you can choose to either have them send you a text message or notify you through the app when your table is ready.

Waiting for a table here is not really a chore as it gives you time to walk around the beautiful resort, take in the scenery and just chill out.

Lump Crab Cake Sandwich

with House-made Canadian Bacon and Spicy Cabbage-Carrot Slaw

This sandwich was spectacular, stacked with plenty of crab cake and a nice, thick piece of Canadian bacon. Even the slaw blended well, being something I would usually remove before consuming the rest. The bread was fresh and I LOVED the waffle fries. This is seriously one of my favorite counter service meals I have had.

What instantly puts Geyser Point over many of the other establishments at various resorts is the variety of options. Not only does the lounge offer a huge menu of drinks and a few unique edible options, but you can also order from the full counter service menu as well. This is spectacular. This is one of the reasons why I love Trader Sams Enchanted Tiki Bar at Disneyland so much more than the Polynesian Village Resort version, because I can enjoy the specialty beverages, but also a quick service meal from the Tangaroa Terrace next door.

Bison Cheeseburger With Marionberry Bbq Sauce

Both Doug and I often order the Bison Cheeseburger with waffle fries because we just really enjoy the burger. Its a novelty to have Bison and both of us are fans of wild game.

Ive tried it both with a gluten-free bun and bun-less to make it gluten-free. In both cases, I asked to have the fried onion straws omitted.

In the end, I prefer the bunless variation. I typically gravitate towards gluten-free buns for the novelty of having bread. However, in this case, the meal is better without the bun. The Marionberry barbeque sauce is a star of the dish, and the gluten-free bun soaks it right up, leaving the burger too dry.

If you get the meal with no bun, they put all of the sauces on the side, which allows you to enjoy the sauce to your hearts content.

Both of us really enjoy this meal. Its always interesting to be able to try meats that are not typically available in our day to day lives. The burger is juicy, the marionberry BBQ sauce is delicious, and bacon always makes everything better.

We were also huge fans of the waffle fries. I love a good waffle fry in general, but these are tossed with cornmeal to boot, and I love cornmeal. Of note, if you look on the mobile order menu for Geyser Point, the french fries are regular old fries. I really hope this is temporary

Doug has also ordered the Bison Cheeseburger with and without a regular bun. Of course, his order included the fried onion straws since he does not eat gluten-free.

From Drinks To An Unexpected Dinner

Geyser Point Bar & Grill | Disney Vacation Club

That night, we had planned on taking a walk around Wilderness Lodge before we headed off property for something to eat. I think it took no more than 30 seconds after scanning the menu before the three of us had agreed that we wouldnt be going anywhere for dinnerthe stellar menu had tantalized our taste buds enough to park ourselves for dinner right at the nice table my mom had found for us overlooking the lake. We placed orders for 3 glasses of wine and sipped while we mulled over our dinner choices.

My mom and dad each got the Grilled Portobello Salad, and I opted for the Grilled Salmon Salad. Fresh, wholesome ingredients are the basis for all of my favorite meals, and after reading the descriptions of both aforementioned salads, I had a tough time picking which I wanted to try! Since both my parents opted for the Portobello, I opted for the salmon to give us something different to try. The salads were ordered from the quick serve window just to the right of the bar and to my surprise, I was met with an open queue line!

Geyser Point Bar & Grill Vegan Food Options

The menu at Geyser Point Bar & Grill is rather small and surprisingly has more than one vegan option. Ive dined here on several occasions so Ive had the pleasure of sampling almost everything.

Yesterday I started my meal off with the Edamame with chili-salt off of the Rustic Fare section of the menu.

The edamame wasnt freshly steamed. It had clearly been frozen and reheated. The pods were hard to crack open and were full of water.

I also ordered a side of Waffle Fries. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! These are the best fries on Walt Disney World property. I only wish there were more in a serving. Side note, a side of fries can be used as a snack credit if you are on the Disney Dining Plan. So if you anticipate having a lot of credits left be sure to go all out ordering extra fries.

For my main I opted to get the modified Grilled Portobello Salad This is a multigrain salad that starts with a base of quinoa and is topped with lightly dressed mixed greens, grilled portobello mushrooms, zucchini, roasted red peppers, onion and a balsamic drizzle. I omitted the goat cheese dressing and my server brought me out a side of emulsified ginger sesame vinaigrette.

And although its not listed on the menu, the restaurant does also offer a Beyond Burger with those same delectable waffle fries.

The restaurant has a full service bar with wines by the glass, signature cocktails and craft beer. You can also opt for a refreshing non-alcoholic Wild Strawberry Lemonade on a warm Florida afternoon.

Geyser Point Dining Plan Information

Geyser Point is technically classified as a Quick Service restaurant thought thats a bit of a misnomer . It will use 1 Quick Service credit if you are using the Disney Dining Plan.

Note: The Disney Dining Plan is not currently offered, but may return in the future.

While it is always good to ask, at this time, Geyser Point does not accept Tables in Wonderland, Annual Passholder Discounts, or Disney Vacation Club discounts.

However, this changes constantly so always ask. We were able to use our DVC discount the first time we ate at Geyser Point.

General Information About Geyser Point Bar & Grill

Geyser Point Bar & Grill opened on April 26, 2007 and initially featured a menu full of grilled specialties such as Pulled Pork sandwiches and St Louis Style Ribs plus southern classics like Fried Catfish and Collards along with mouthwatering desserts like Cheesecake.

Since then they have introduced many new items to the menu but since the reopening from COVID the menu items have been pared down compared to what has been offered in the past but we expect some menu items being added to the menu soon now that things have opened back up.

One of the biggest obstacles that prevents some people from visiting Geyser Point is the pure logistics of getting there it can be difficult to find. However, it should not deter anyone because the food and location are both fantastic and deserving of more guests!

If you arent staying at Wilderness Lodge and happen to be coming from a different Disney Resort or staying off property, either take the bus or monorail to magic kingdom. From there you can get on the Wilderness Lodge bus, or you can take our favorite mode of Disney transportation over which is the boat.

The boat ride to the Wilderness Lodge is a relaxing way to travel and if you have small children like we do the nice perk of the boat is that you dont have to fold up your stroller when you get on.

How To Get To Geyser Point

Pure logistics might be the largest factor keeping people from going to Geyser Point, but it shouldnt. The food and experience at Geyser Point are great, and EVERYONE should have the chance to wander around Wilderness Lodge.

If you are coming from another resort, the easiest option is to take the bus to Magic Kingdom. From there you can either hop on the Wilderness Lodge bus, or the boat. P.S. I recommend the boat

The boat ride to Wilderness Lodge is easy and relaxing, giving you time to simply sit back and enjoy the scenery around you.

Another alternative is to take the monorail to the Contemporary Resort. From there you can take a boat directly to Wilderness Lodge. Check before trying this, since reopening, this boat route might not be running.

I think escaping to Wilderness Lodge for a meal at Geyser Point is actually a great way to take a break from a busy day at Magic Kingdom, especially if you find yourself in a situation where things are not going as planned and you need to regroup.
