Many People Exchange Their Propane Tanks Sometimes Refilling May Make More Sense

Some customers choose to refill their 20lb propane tanks rather than exchange them. Exchanging your tank is no doubt convenient. Exchanging became popular because many stations and stores did not have room to house filling stations for their customers propane. Somewhere lost in that transition were the real tangible benefits to refilling propane rather than exchanging. Costs are comparable so lets take that out of the equation.

Do You Have 20lbs Of Propane In Your 20lb Tank

How To Clean Your Weber Q 3200

Ok so you have a 20lb propane tank, but do you have 20lbs of propane? In short, if you refill you do, if you exchange you dont. Across the board exchange companies must transport all these 20lb propane tanks when they are full, or at least somewhat full. Then by the very nature of the exchange setup the tanks are stored at the exchange location in groups.

We have all gone to exchange our propane tank and an employee opens a big cage which houses a bunch of 20lb tanks all in proximity. Here is the catch. Exchange companies, due to transporting and storing multiple 20lb propane tanks in proximity of each other, are only allowed to fill the tanks with 15-17lbs of propane, not 20lbs. When you refill your propane, it gets filled to the top within a fraction of the 20lb mark.

Can You Use Oven Cleaner On A Weber Grill

Yes, you can use the oven cleaner in cleaning the interior portion of the grill but avoid spraying it on the exterior area as this could damage its enamel finish. Spray the cleaner on the grates and leave it there for up to 30 minutes to soften the grime. Afterward, wipe the grill clean using paper towels.

    Replacing Your Propane Tanks

If your Weber Grill is propane-based, you should make sure you have a fuel supply at the ready before you start cooking. One extra convenience of a Weber natural gas grill is having a constant source of fuel, though propane can be economical and convenient for those who do not have natural gas in their house or who cannot install an additional gas line to their yard.

Yardville Supply offers new 20lb propane tanks at all of our Smiths Ace Hardware store locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. At our Yardville location you can have your propane tank refilled.

Grill Care For Every Time You Grill

Before each use, use tongs and a paper towel soaked in cooking oil to lightly coat grill grates. This provides grates with a protective coating and helps to keep foods from sticking to grates.

For charcoal grills, remove cold ashes from the kettle after each use.

After each use, turn the grill to high to burn off food residue, then follow by brushing grates with a high-quality brass wire grill brush. Clean any grease drippings on the outside of the grill with soapy water and a sponge. Leaving grease drippings on the outside of your grill can damage the paint and other surfaces.

    Wipe With Dry Paper Towels

How To Clean Your Gas Grill | Weber Grills

Depending on how long you might have left the Weber grill unused, small debris, ashes and charcoal dust might have accumulated on your grill, in addition to the layers of grease formed when grilling. In this case, the first step when cleaning is to wipe everything off with a dry paper towel, or a dry piece of cloth.

For a perfectly-cleaned Weber charcoal grill, you should consider wiping it both on the inside and Souter coats. This minimizes the residues that will be collected unlike when you directly use water before wiping. It also reduces chances of the grill scratching from the small debris when scrubbing as detailed in the next step.

Note that cast-iron grates require different care procedures. Cast iron grill grates need to be seasoned frequently to avoid rust. To season cast iron grill grates, coat each grate with a solid vegetable shortening, then place over indirect heat for 1 1/2 hours. Do not use the burn-off method after cooking with cast iron grill grates. Using the burn-off method after grilling can cause cast-iron grates to rust. Instead, do a burn-off every time prior to cooking.

How To Clean Your Burner Tubes

How to Clean a Weber Baby Q Barbeque

Burners are the heart of any gas grill, and if theres a problem with them it can make it hard or impossible to grill great food on your Weber.

Thats why, just like a car, its important to give your grill periodic maintenance, so it can give you years of great meals and memories. Webers are incredibly durable, my own 14 year old Genesis is testament to that, but I use it a lot and I dont think it would be in such great shape if I didnt show it at least some love by cleaning it, especially the burners.

So, what exactly is a burner? Well, when you boil it down, the burners on Webers gas grills are basically hollow metal tubes with holes that flames come out of. Theres obviously more science behind it than that, but it helps to think of them in simple terms when it comes to cleaning them.

While youre cooking all that great food on your grill all kinds of juices, grease, sauces, and marinades fall down onto the flavorizer bars and into the cookbox. The burners are pretty well protected, but over time theyll begin to develop some surface corrosion on them.

For a while, all is well, but left untended the burner portholes will start to get clogged. This leads to uneven flame patterns, which means uneven heat on the grill.

Its important to brush the burners across their surface, rather than lengthwise.

    The Virtual Weber Gas Grill

In a post last year, I said I was a clean freak when it comes to my grill. But sometimes I get busy and/or lazy and I let my Weber Summit 450 go too long between cleanings. I know its starting to get bad when I have a hard time lighting the grill because the ignitors are clogged with debris. I know its getting even worse when the burners are burning unevenly and with yellow flames because some of the burner holes are clogged. Thats when I know its time to break down and do a deep cleaning of my grill.

    Heres how I do it.

Grill Cleaning Tools & Supplies Needed

To deep clean your grill youll need the following tools and supplies:

    • Grill brush
    • Narrow and wide putty knives
    • Stainless steel bristle brush
    • Eyeglass screwdriver or paper clip
    • Disposable latex/nitrile gloves
    • Windex, Simple Green or similar cleaner
    • Stainless steel cleaner
    • Towels/rags
    • Garbage bag

During some of the steps shown below, you may want to wear disposable gloves to keep your hands clean.

    Brush The Grates

Turn all burners to HIGH and burn-off the grates for 10-15 minutes. Use a grill brush to clean the top side of the grates. Let the grates cool enough so you can handle them safely with grilling gloves then flip them over and brush the back side. Remove the grates and set them aside.
