For Sauting In A Pan:

Using a pan frees you up to get creative: a splash of white wine, heavy cream, or some softened onions and garlic beforehand take a chicken breast to the next level.

  • Drizzle some oil in a pan and get it nice and hot over medium-high heat. The oil should start to shimmerthats when you know youre ready to go.
  • Arrange the seasoned chicken in a single layer, without crowding. Most importantly, dont move it. After it cooks for a while, it will develop a crust that will release the chicken so you can flip it.
  • Partially cover the skillet, turn the heat to medium, and continue cooking until the chicken reaches 165 degrees internally. If you are in a hurry, or if youre having trouble, add a ¼ cup water to the skillet and cover to semi-poach the chicken over the finish line into dinner territory.

How To Make Your Own Lemon Pepper Seasoning

While lemon pepper seasoning is a pretty popular topping in North America, not every supermarket keeps lemon pepper seasoning readily available. So, if you live somewhere not yet blessed by the deliciousness of lemon pepper, you can always make your own.

All you really need is some lemons, a zester, coarse sea salt, and plenty of black pepper.

  • Zest a bunch of lemons so that you get just the yellow exteriors of the lemons, with as little of the white pith as possible.
  • Combine that with a roughly equal amount of coarse black pepper by volume. There isnt really a science to this, so just eyeball it until it looks right.
  • Once that’s done, stick the pepper and lemon zest onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake at the lowest setting your oven will go. It will take about an hour, after which your lemon zest should be dehydrated and sort of break apart if you try and bend it.
  • If it is drying unevenly, try giving the pan a shake and tossing everything together during the cooking time.
  • Once dried and smelling amazing, add it to a spice grinder, food processor, or, if you feel like going old school, a mortar and pestle. Blitz until a fine powder, and then combine with an equal amount of salt, and you have some really delicious, homemade lemon pepper seasoning all on your own.

Why Should You Buy Organic Yogurt

When it comes to yogurt, we fully believe that organic yogurt is best. The fact that Stonyfields yogurt is not only delicious and creamy but also organic, is a huge win for us! Organic milk are actually more nutritious than the conventional stuff. How can this be? Organic milk comes from cows that are organically raised and spend their days grazing on grass as they roam the pasture because theyre living just as nature intended, the milk they produce is higher in Omega-3 fatty acids, CLA , and healthy-healthy fats. Pretty amazing, right?

Another benefit of organic yogurt? Its good for others and our planet! A huge goal of organic farming practices is to avoid the contamination of rivers, soil, drinking water, and air that is inevitable with the use of toxic chemicals. This means that when organic farmers are doing their thing, they arent exposed to harmful chemicals and neither are their neighbors! Read more about why organic is best HERE!

Note that chicken should always be cooked to an internal temperature of 165ºF for food safety. Measure the temperature in the middle of the thickest part of a boneless cut of meat. For bone-in cuts press the tip of the thermometer against the bone at the thickest part of the meat. Cooking times may vary slightly based on your oven and the size of your cut of meat. Use the below times and temperatures as a guideline.

CHICKEN WINGS: I like to buy the wings labeled party wings. These are wings that have already been separated into drums and flats. If you can only find regular chicken wings that is fine too. You can separate them yourself. If youre unsure how, this video will show you.

LEMON PEPPER SEASONING: You may be wondering what is lemon pepper seasoning made of? Its made of dried lemon peel, salt and pepper. You should be able to find it pretty easily in the spice aisle of your grocery store.

LEMON: A fresh squeeze of lemon juice adds a citrusy brightness to the grilled wings.

Tips To Make Best Lemon Pepper Chickenrecipe

    Grilled Lemon Pepper Chicken
  • You can cut chicken breasts horizontally into two fillets or pound a chicken breasts to make it thin.
  • Use fresh grated lemon zest. Do not grate the white part below the yellow skin. Its too bitter and will change the taste of chicken.
  • Use fresh ground pepper. Freshly ground pepper always has much more flavors and peppery taste to it.
  • If you like to pack in extra flavors, add minced garlic and onion powder. I like to add it to the chicken fillets. But you could add to flour for breading chicken.

    Step 3: Grill the Chicken

Once dinner time rolls around, go ahead a preheat your grill. I have a gas grill, and it heats quite quickly. If you have a charcoal grill, light the coals and get the heat to a medium-high temperature.

Place the chicken breasts over indirect heat, and grill for 6-8 minutes per side. The thicker the cut of meat, the longer it will need to cook. For boneless thighs, cook time will be a little less, approximately 5-6 minutes per side. For chicken legs and thighs cook time will be longer, approximately 10-15 minutes per side. If unsure the meat is done, use a meat thermometer internal temperature for chicken is 165 degrees.

What Air Fryer Do You Use

We actually have 3 air fryers. I have a smaller one from Phillips that we started with. I have since given that to my son since hes only cooking for 1.

But the more I used the air fryer I realized I really wanted a digital screen. It wasnt any more expensive, in fact- our XL air fryer from GoWISE was less expensive than the Phillips and I love its ease & extra functions.

Plus it comes with a lot of the extra accessories I like to use when cooking with my fryer.

But I when I started working on my second air fryer book, I wanted to change things up. I picked up this Chefman 6.3 Quart Digital Air Fryer+ Rotisserie, Dehydrator, Convection Oven. It has 8 Touch Screen Presets & Accessories Included. It is XL Family Size, which is great!

Lets Make Some Grilled Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings

Step 1: Season wings with dry rub

To begin, remove the wings from the refrigerator and pat down with paper towels. Spray lightly with avocado oil or brush on a light layer of oil with a food bush. Then, combine 2 tsp salt, 1 tsp fresh cracked black pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder in a small bowl. Season wings on all sides with the seasoning mixture.

    Step 2: Grill wings

Next, preheat grill to med-high heat. Then, place seasoned wings on the warm grill. If your grill runs hot and you are seeing a lot of flames flare up, reduce the heat. We dont want to burn the wings.

Then, cook the wings for 15-20 minutes in a closed grill rotating every 3 minutes. The constant rotation will allow the skin to crisp without burning. Remove the wings from the grill when the internal temp reaches 170F.

Step 3: Toss wings in lemon pepper sauce

Then, while the wings are still warm from the grill, prepare the sauce by combining melted butter or ghee, lemon juice, lemon zest, dijon mustard and 1 tsp cracked pepper in a small bowl. Finally, toss the wings in this sauce and enjoy! You can use the excess sauce for dipping as you eat

    Step 4: Enjoy!

How Do You Make Crispy Skin Chicken Wings On The Grill

The trick to getting the skin nice and crispy on these grilled chicken wings is to not let them burn and char. You want to cook them on a medium-high grill and watch to be sure the grill flames do not flare up. If the grill is to hot reduce the heat to closer to medium.

Once you have the right grill temp, be sure to rotate and flip the wings every 3 minutes. This method allows the natural fat in the wing skin to render and crisp. Toss the wings in the lemon pepper butter sauce while they are still warm so that the skin retains a crisp.

Questions You Might Have About How To Make Grilled Lemon Chicken:

You used dried onion, can I use fresh onion? Fresh onion is delicious and will add even more flavor to this easy chicken marinade. The only reason I use the dried version in this recipe is ease. It is one of my

quick recipes, so not having to bring out the chopping board saves some time!

What side do you serve with grilled lemon chicken? Here are a few of my favorites:

Can I use fresh herbs instead of dried herbs? You sure can! You know I love fresh herbs, but much like why I am using dried onion is why I am using dried herbs. Purely saving time. Use 2 tablespoons of chopped flat leaf parsley and basil.

PRO TIP: Rub dry spices and herbs between your palms before adding to the recipe to release natural oils and more flavor.

Can I use a different oil? You dont have to use vegetable oil in your lemon pepper marinade. You can use any oil you prefer, but I would suggest not using one with a strong flavor. You can also omit it.

Do I have to use chicken drumsticks? Nope! Use whatever cut of chicken you prefer or a mix. You can even use this lemon pepper marinade on seafood or pork with excellent results.

How Do You Grill Chicken Without Drying It Out

    Grilled Lemon Pepper Chicken

The best way to dry out chicken is to overcook it. Because chicken breast meat has little to no fat, it retains very little moisture. Keep the cook times to 5-6 minutes per side on medium-high heat. Use a meat thermometer to test doneness.

    Step 4: Serve and Enjoy!

Once the chicken is done cooking, let it rest for just a few minutes. This will help keep the chicken juicy.

Ill often double this batch, and grill up extra chicken for leftovers for salad in the days to follow. It makes a fantastic, healthy lunch and is a big time-saver.

Make Sure To Pin Lemon Pepper Grilled Chicken

Dont buy your lemon pepper marinade at the store, just make your own in minutes. It will have more flavor and you can adjust the salt content to your liking.

If you arent into eating chicken drumsticks, feel free to substitute other cuts of chicken such as thighs or boneless chicken breasts. Boneless skinless chicken breasts get so boring and dry on the grill, so using a fattier cut can prevent that from happening.

PRO TIP: If you are using boneless skinless chicken breasts, use a tenderizer to pound them into a uniform thickness. They will cook evenly so none of the pieces dry out before others come to temperture.

I prefer to leave skin on the chicken on for the added flavor, letting it get nice and crispy, but you can remove the skin if desired.

If bones are your arch nemesis, remember you can also use boneless thigh fillets.

Grilled lemon chicken tastes best when marinated overnight, but you can marinate for as little as 2 hours if short on time. I really wouldnt go shorter than that or it doesnt have any time to penetrate the meat and will just kind of sit on top.

This grilled chicken recipe is perfect for a BBQ or get together. Chicken pieces like drumsticks and thighs typically cost a lot less than chicken breasts, so they are perfect for parties or large gatherings.

PRO TIP: Use fresh lemon juice, it packs a lot more flavor than bottled lemon juice so you really get the lemon flavor.
