Introduction To Coyote Wood Pellet Grills/smokers
Coyote Outdoor Living which is the full company name is based in Dallas, Texas, USA and was started in 2011. Coyote has previously been focused on producing high-end stainless steel outdoor gas and charcoal grills. Coyote does produce portable grills however their main focus is backyard cooking and outdoor kitchen setups. They have now released their own range of wood pellet grills/smokers to compete in the luxury segment available in the following sizes:
- 28 Freestanding or Built-In Wood Pellet Grill
- 36 Freestanding or Built-In Wood Pellet Grill
Both sizes of grills include the same features and capabilities. Therefore the promotional video below on the Coyote 36 built-in wood pellet grill is representative of all Coyote pellet grill models.
Quick promotional video highlighting the features of the Coyote pellet grill range.
If you have previously read my post on Twin Eagles pellet grill range you will notice the Coyote pellet grills have a rather striking resemblance. Not only with their size and stainless steel construction. The front-loading hopper with sliding shelf lid is almost identical. Furthermore, the position, size and interface on the Coyote pellet grills appear very similar to that found on Twin Eagles pellet grills. However, they are not the same, and Ill discuss that more below. Its clear that Coyote is trying to offer a pellet grill with similar features/capabilities to a Twin Eagles pellet grill at a significantly lower price point.
Grilling For Beginners: How To Grill Steak
Ask just about any foodie that eats meat there is nothing more sacrilegious than overcooking a premium cut of beef. This being said, there are many people, even well-seasoned home cooks, who dont know how to grill steak to perfection.
Whether youre the owner of a new grill, new to the art of cooking steak, or need a refresher on how to do prime cuts of beef justice, this blog tells you how to do it.
The Charcoal Tray For A Gas Grill
Using a Charcoal Tray for your Gas Grill is loads of fun and so easy. Here are a few tips and tricks to make using this interesting accessory so much more exciting
- Add Wood Chips You can add wood chips to your charcoal tray to give foods a smokey delicious flavor, no matter what you are grilling up. You can do this after the charcoal has been lit and ready to cook on, add the wood chips directly to the coals, or soak them in cold water and add them to the smoker in the chamber on the tray before lighting the coal.
- High Quality Charcoal Try to use high quality lump charcoal instead of charcoal briquettes. Briquettes are usually coated and filled with chemicals to ignite faster and burn faster than lump coal. This is generally less than ideal for your grill.
- Safety Ensure that the charcoal is completely extinguished or burnt out by itself before you move it. Always use heat protection, such as heat resistant gloves and tools when handling anything hot.

Where Is The Wifi Integration
While I definitely think the 304 stainless steel construction and very competitive price point of the Coyote pellet grills means anyone with the budget should consider one, there is a rather odd omission. Coyote has released a luxury pellet grill with a touch screen tablet interface, but no WiFi/App integration?! On lower specification grills WiFi/App features such as Traegers WiFire and Camp Chef Connect have become extremely popular. Furthermore, all Memphis and Twin Eagles pellet grills have WiFi/App integration. Twin Eagles WiFi/App implementation is particularly impressive, with the same interface present on the pellet grill and on your phone. If you only ever use your grill for burgers/steaks etc then WiFi remote monitoring of your grill may not be a feature you would use much if at all. However, if you want to do low and slow cooking and smoking, what pellet grills are mainly known for thats where WiFi remoting monitoring and control really shines.

Season Your Steak And Grill
Its crucial that you season your steaks beforehand, and not during cooking. Use a liberal amount of salt and freshly ground black pepper and season both sides of your steak evenly.
Place your steaks on the hot grill and sear on one side for three minutes, then rotate and cook for another three minutes. If you find that your steaks are catching or burning, remove them from the hot zone, and allow them to finish up in the cooler zone.

A To Z List Of Pellet Grill/smoker Brands
Back in 2007 when I first become aware of pellet grills and smokers the only brand I was really aware of was Traeger. Traeger is really where this whole concept of cooking with pellets started in the 1980s. It was a slow burner but since the 2010s is really when pellet grills and smokers started to get mainstream awareness, discussed alongside gas and charcoal grills. There are now over 30 pellet grill/smoker brands that Im aware of, and the link above goes to my A to Z list of brands article.
Now, you may already be aware of a few of the other brands such as Pit Boss, Camp Chef, Z Grills and Im sure you are aware of Weber, though you may not have known they have entered the pellet grill game. However, they are now many, many more brands to look into. Some may be what are commonly referred to as Traeger clones, but many others are offering their own unique designs and features.
What Happened To Coyote Grill See What’s Coming To Route 9 After Restaurant’s Demolition
When it opened in the fall of 2002, Coyote Grill became a popular Town of Poughkeepsie spot for a family-friendly tex-mex meal, a frozen margarita or a late-night snack.
When it closed following an electrical fire in the fall of 2016, Coyote Grill became a Route 9 eyesore.
Recently, it was reduced to rubble. And soon, a new business will be taking its place.
The demolition was the latest step in a revitalization effort along the stretch of South Road sandwiched by Locust Grove and Hudson Plaza.
Foam & Wash express car wash will be taking Coyote Grill’s place after the rubble is removed.
The Courtyard by Marriott location north of Coyote Grill’s location is also under construction. And its neighbor to the south, the former Poughkeepsie Inn, is in the midst of a reconstruction of its own that is slated to bring multiple businesses to the area, including a Smoothie King.
The fire at Coyote Grill, in which flames ran up the wall of the eatery to its roof, was ruled accidental. It was caused by an electrical distribution failure, according to the Arlington Fire District.
Though the damage did not destroy the building, the restaurant never made repairs nor reopened. The property, located at 2629 South Road, went up for sale through CR Properties Group in January 2017, but the building remained empty for years.

Youve surely seen the egg-style grills they are also known as kamado grills. This is Coyotes version and they did a really great job creating it! Its without a doubt able to stand up to other popular kamado brands like Kamado Joe and Big Green Egg.
This is a freestanding grill that is on a wheeled stand. The grill also has side shelves to give you some working space.
The grill is black ceramic. It is super sleek and sharp looking. This grill is considered a small grill but it has 254 square inches of cooking space. It is heavy and the cooking grates are made of cast iron materials. This is considered a premium style grill.
The overall thickness of the shell is 1-inch thick. If you compare this style to other similar brands, it is large in diameter and it provides a comparable cooking area overall. It requires some minor assembly to use. The cart is very convenient since the grill itself is heavy plus it makes it a comfortable height for cooking.
This particular type of grill can also be purchased to be used as a built-in grill, just be sure to look for that specific model if that is what you are looking for. The bottom of the grill has a vent as does the lid so you can manage and control your cooking temperature easier.

- Includes a rolling stand
- Easy to regulate with dual-vent system
- There are limited accessories for versatility on this grill at this time

Coyote C1el120sm Electric Grill Review
The C1EL120SM is the main focus of this article. A cover and a two-piece toolset are included with the purchase. It is one of the cheaper grills made by Coyote, but do not let that discourage you from purchasing it. It is still a very durable and exceptional grill with many features. For example, the grill offers a temperature range of 175-500° Fahrenheit and it makes sure to reach those temperatures as fast as you would like it to.
Starting off with what is a great feature for the forgetful ones the C1EL120SM grill comes with a built-in automatic shutoff that will turn the grill off after 60 minutes or less, depending on how you adjust it. That being said, make sure both the temperature control knob AND the timer knob is in the OFF position after you are done the grilling. Another neat feature is the fact that the user manual comes with grilling tips, but more about that later. The grill is easily portable, so you will not have to beat your head against a wall wondering where to place it down. All of this makes the grill user-friendly and definitely worth thinking about whether to purchase it or not.
