Studio Movie Grill has announced the reopening of its newest location, the 12-screen SMG Chisholm Trail in Fort Worth, TX, which was completed last July and will open this fall. The exhibitor is also in final negotiations to reopen another of its previous locations in North Carolina, while last week it resumed construction of SMG Northpoint in Alpharetta, GA, which is slated to open in November or December 2021.
In a press release, Studio Movie Grill also touts that it has reinvented itself with a simplified approach to sales, service, and the stakeholder model a strategy that earned the company its highest Net Promoter Score ever last month. That milestone resulted in higher per-caps and average checks and budget performance that has exceeded guidance since February.

I have gone to this location many time, but tonight I felt the help were all trainees. In the middle of watching the movie I was asked four times if I needed anything. I did not hit the light requesting that I needed anything. One of the servers was announcing drinks in the middle of the movie and not once ducked to get out of the view of the customers. I don’t know if the current help is all new but I pay to see a movie not to be bothered.

The concept is great but this location is really tired. The theaters smell really bad. Really Bad. The rolling chairs are worn out and uncomfortable. There are several better theaters in the area.

We’ve been to several dine-in move cinemas in the past. This one had no reclining chairs, in fact it looked a bit run down. I gave it a chance on the food and although similarly priced for entrees as other cinemas, it wasn’t great. The horrific part was when I was washing my hands in the restroom and the same guy serving us our beverages, went from the stall to the food service area to grab more drinks…never washed his hands. That was it, no refills for anyone. 1:45 MIB International on Sunday you figure it out.

Studio Movie Grill Opens Four Additional Theaters This Weekend
Dallas-based dine-in chain Studio Movie Grill has announced that they are reopening four additional locations this Friday, August 14.
Studio Movie Grill currently has nine locations opensix in Texas, one in Georgia, and two in Florida. This weekends batch will see SMG open doors to locations in Texas Arlington Lincoln Square and Plano Duluth in Georgia and Wheaton in Illinois. The weekend after these theaters open, the first major release to open in U.S. theaters in some monthsthe Russell Crowe-starring Unhinged, for which advanced tickets are currently on salewill open in theaters. Starting that same day, August 21, SMG locations will screen a tenth-anniversary re-release of Christopher Nolans Inception, leading up to the release of Nolans Tenet in select markets on September 3.

Studio Movie Grill Moves Full Speed Ahead With New Fort Worth Location
Studio Movie Grill will reopen its newest location, SMG Chisholm Trail in Fort Worth, sometime in fall 2021, more than a year after the theater was completed in July 2020 as the anchor to The Shops at Chisholm Trail Ranch.
Originally announced in March 2020 just before the start of the pandemic, the theater located at 5413 Sierra Springs Ln., at the southeast corner of Chisholm Trail Parkway and McPherson Boulevard opened in August 2020 before closing again in January 2021 due to the lack of new movie releases, the company says.
Now that movies are being released on a regular basis again, they say, audiences will finally have a chance to experience all of the amenities at the new theater, which features 12 screens and over 1,200 luxury leather recliners. As Studio Movie Grill was the originator of the dine-in theater idea, moviegoers will be offered the same in-theater dining experience available at all other locations.
The theater is one of Studio Movie Grill’s newer prototypes, featuring a whole new bar design, lowered ceilings, controlled lighting levels, and new kitchen designed for speed and efficiency, time, and motion. It also includes updated auditorium seating as well as other modern furniture, fixtures, equipment touchpoints, and design features.
It is the first location in Fort Worth there are two other Tarrant County locations in Arlington. All other local Studio Movie Grill locations have already reopened.

Downtown Movie Theater Reopening Later This Month
Look Dine-In Cinemas is scheduled to open July 29, replacing Studio Movie Grill.
DOWNEY It wont be long until Downtown Downey has a functioning movie theater again.
Look Dine-In Cinemas is taking over the Studio Movie Grill located at 8200 2nd St. The theater closed in March 2020 when L.A. County went into a COVID-19 lockdown and never reopened.
Brian Schultz, founder of Look Cinemas, said customers can expect an elevated moviegoing experience when the Downey theater reopens July 29.
One of the core values of Look Cinemas is to have this black box, non-distracting moviegoing experience, said Schultz. That means a full dining experience with high levels of hospitality and all the benefits of full service.
Schultz was an executive with Studio Movie Grill before leaving to start Look Cinema. In fact, he helped Studio Movie Grill open the Downey theater in 2017.
I loved the Downey community, he said. The Downtown Downey community just has a vital love of their area and I want to make sure they have a platform to come together.
The theater will offer private reservations and not just for films. Theater rooms can be rented and used as conference rooms, with state-of-the-art video and audio capabilities.
In addition to Downey, Look Cinemas is also opening theaters in Monrovia and Glendale.
The Downey theater originally opened in 1997 as Krikorian Theaters. It was taken over by Studio Movie Grill in 2017.

Studio Movie Grill announced on Wednesday that it has officially emerged from bankruptcy and will have 19 dine-in theaters operating in seven states by Memorial Day weekend. In addition, the chains longtime CFO and COO Ted Croft will become Studio Movie Grills new CEO after navigating the chain through a pandemic in which many of its locations stayed open for food delivery orders. This has been a challenging time for the industry and the brand, Croft said in a statement. Its a testament to SMGs founder, team members, and our other stakeholders, that were standing here today delivering a best-in-class experience to folks getting out of their homes and safely back into theaters.

As thousands of movie theaters worldwide try to navigate the coronavirus shutdown, Studio Movie Grill is keeping one revenue stream open as the dine-in theater chain announced on Tuesday that it would keep its locations partially open for food takeout.
Starting today, ten Studio Movie Grill locations in California, Texas and Florida will serve a select menu of items including pizza, chicken tenders and beignets for curbside pickup from Monday-Saturday with plans in the future for a delivery partnership with Grubhub. The partial reopening comes as hundreds of thousands of employees at movie theaters nationwide have been furloughed as chains close their locations to prevent spread of COVID-19 while making drastic cost cuts to avoid bankruptcy.
The crisis has even affected the countrys largest chains, as AMC furloughed all of its corporate employees last week while Cinemark announced on Monday that its corporate team will take steep pay cuts. The CEOs of both chains have announced they will forgo their pay for the duration of the shutdown.
As part of the program, 10% of all food sales at these SMG locations will go to a fund to support Studio Movie Grill employees nationwide who have been affected by the pandemic.
Studio Movie Grill has also announced a partnership with Film Movement and Magnolia Pictures to make a selection of films available for digital rental at $12 each. Sales for the rentals will also go to supporting the companys employees.
