Inside Of Lid Is Peeling

If the inside of your grill lid looks like its peeling, the issue is caused by grease buildup. The burned-on grease has turned to carbon, which is now beginning to flake off. Because the cookbox is made of cast aluminum and is not painted, it wont actually peel on its own. Cleaning the lid will resolve the issue.

Burners Arent Lighting All The Way

Lets say the burners have lit, but the flames are too low when the burner is set to high. In this case, a diminished fuel supply is likely to blame. Check the propane tank or cartridge and refill or replace it as needed.

For full-sized gas grills like the ones in the Spirit, Genesis, or Summit series, you can also check and straighten the gas hose. Insufficient gas flow can disrupt the consistency of the flames.

Similarly, if the flame pattern is uneven, or if the flames dont run the entire length of the burner tube, youll probably need to clean the burner ports. Wait until the grill has had a chance to cool, then refer to the Maintenance segment of your users manual for advice on cleaning the ports.

Design: Sleek And Modern But Slightly Flawed

The Weber Spirit II E-310 isnt designed to look like your typical grill it comes with four color options for the hood, so you can spice things up with a bright red or sapphire hood or keep it classic with black.

The grill surface is made of three porcelain-enameled, cast iron cooking grates, which are durable and easy to clean thanks to the grease management system, which funnels drippings into a removable tray.

The main burners pack a whopping 30,000 BTU-per-hour input. Even with that amount of heat, we experienced very few flare-upsprobably because of the flavorizer barswhich kept anything we were cooking from getting charred by accident.

The easy-to-read fuel gauge is an unusual but welcome feature that makes this grill much easier for novices to navigate.

There are also two side tables for prep workone of which folds downto save spaceas well as a warming rack that helped us keep things at the right temperature while we finished up other food.

The Weber Spirit II E-310s compact size made it easy for us to fit it in tight spaces on our deck, yet it still offered a large enough surface to cook for our family of five. The one downside of the smaller, more compact size is that the hood isnt as deep as it is on other Weber models, but that shouldnt be a hindrance unless youre planning on cooking a huge hunk of meat.

What Could Be Improved

When using this grill, you will mainly be cooking meat that is flat or chopped into small pieces. There is not much space under the lid that will allow you to cook something like a whole chicken. If you had hopes of making rotisserie chicken, then this is not the grill for you. One negative we did discover is that both the handle and the body got very hot during cooking, wearing oven mitts is a must!

The 20-pound propane gas tank mounts to the outside of the grill underneath the storage arms. This makes it easy to remove and replace, but its not exactly aesthetically pleasing. It may seem like nitpicking, but the rest of the grill is so sleek that having the propane tank visible really draws the eye away from the cool elements of the grill.

Packaging: Everything Included But Slightly Confusing

When we first opened the boxes that contained the parts to our new Weber grill, we were a bit confused. The instructions contain information on multiple models of the Spirit II, and it wasnt clear what exactly our boxes should contain. We spent quite a while digging around for pieces we thought should be in our boxes before we realized that we didnt need one of the hardware bags listed on the instructions.

We also had some issues with the included gas hose and regulator. When we turned on the gas, there was a leak where the regulator meets the hose, requiring a run to the hardware store to replace the part.

Other than that, the packaging for this Weber grill was solid. Everything was contained in one large box, and it took two people to lift and carry the package to our desired setup location.

Setup Process: Easy To Put Together Even For Your Average Joe

The easy assembly of the Weber Spirit II E-310 is one of its strongest selling points it only took us about an hour to put together after it was unboxed. There are about ten or so main pieces, and they easily fit together much like the instructions state they should.

It took about ten steps to completely assemble the grill. We used a power drill to help speed it up, but this is certainly not a requirement. There are also video instructions available if you get stuck, but we didnt need them the manual was enough.

Competition: A Standout Among Strong Contenders

There are a handful of grills with similar features to the Weber Spirit II E-310, including the Master Cook Classic Smart Space Living 3 Burner LP Gas Grill. Like the Weber grill we reviewed, this Master Cook model features three burners, foldable side tables, and porcelain-enameled grates, but the Master Cook retails for significantly less than the Weber. You can find the Master Cook for under $200 online.

But, while the Master Cook will cost you less, youd have to trade in some of the cool Weber features, like the thick, reversible grill plates, the Weber iGrill 3-compatibility, and the easy-to-read fuel gauge, to save some dough.

Another option is the Char-Broil Classic 3-Burner Gas Grill, which is, as the name implies, a no-frills, three-burner grill fueled by propane. Its a compact grill, but it has almost no bells or whistles, and the design isnt nearly as eye-catching as the Weber. Grill Wont Maintain Stable Temps In Cold Weather

When the temperature outside dips below 50 degrees, the propane may be taking too long to transform into vapor. This can restrict the gas flow, which means that the grill wont be able to hold its heat long enough to cook your ingredients.

Check the outside of the LP tank. Is it coated in frost or ice? If so, it will need to be disconnected and replaced with a new one.

The Grill Isnt Heating Up

This complaint is usually caused by issues with the regulator. The regulator is the small segment of pipe that connects the grill to the gas supply. Weber grill regulator problems can cause the burners to produce only a tiny glimmer of flameor sometimes none at all.

If the issue isnt with the igniter system or the gas supply, a regulator reset could do the trick. First, turn all the burner control knobs and the tank valve to their OFF positions. Take the regulator valve off the gas tank by pulling the metal collar toward the tank, then pulling the valve in the opposite direction.

When youve removed the valve, turn each burner knob to HIGH and wait for at least one minute, then switch them all off again.

Next, youll want to hook the regulator valve back up. Pull the metal collar back toward the tank and insert the tip of the valve directly into the tank. Make sure the valve is secure, then switch the tank valve back on. Attempt to use the grill as you normally would.

Grill Light Wont Turn On

If the lid of your Weber grill is equipped with lights for evening cookouts, it will only activate when the lid is open. Try pressing the AWAKE button once youve lifted the lid. Battery replacement might also be in order.

Remember that the light will automatically shut off after 30 minutes if theres been no grill activity during that time. You can relight it by pressing the AWAKE button.

When the light wont shut off, its probably because the lid of the grill is ajar. Make sure to close it completely when youve finished grilling.
