Barbecue Grills Designed For Natural Gas
If you want to burn natural gas in your barbecue grill, the best strategy is simply to buy a grill that is designed to use this fuel. Such appliances will simply be labeled “natural gas grill” rather than “liquid propane grill.” Virtually all major grill manufacturers offer grills with special valves and burners designed to use natural gas, although you may need to special-order them. Because natural gas burns slightly cooler than propane, natural gas grills have valves and burner orifices that are slightly larger to allow for a larger volume of gas to flow. A grill with propane valves should never be used to burn natural gas unless an approved conversion has been performed.
Advantages Of Natural Gas
If theres one thing you must know about natural gas, its that this fuel is run through the home like any other utility.
Because of this setup, those who already have a natural gas supply piped in will probably find it to be the best fuel source for their grill. Most natural gas models come with a kit that makes hooking up the grill to the gas line quick and easy, not to mention that natural gas is generally cheaper than propane and will never run out in the middle of a BBQ.
Getting a new natural gas line installed, however, is often expensive and can result in your backyard being uprooted by professionals laying down the lines. Its a considerable cost up front especially if you live far from the main distribution line but using natural gas rather than propane will still save you more money over time if you grill frequently.
Natural gas is also one of the eco-friendliest fuel sources on the market, and itll safely float out of your outdoor kitchen in the event of a leak because its lighter than air. To top it all off, natural gas appliances can operate even when you lose electricity.

âIâm impressed with the quality craftsmanship that Weber puts into their products. This is one of the best barbecues Iâve ever owned and it was easy to assemble. Iâm sure this will be a great backyard patio âconversationâ piece for years to come. I own the smaller Weber barbecue that looks just like the top part of this one, and I travel with it in my RV. I highly recommend Weber!!â¦â
âCooks fantastic, easy folding shelves, easy assembly is not rocket science. Cooks anything great so far and if you use the drip tray for wood chips, dry, it will smoke fantastic. Put the chips in the drip tray ear the side where the vent is formed in the lid to give it oxygen. Crank the heat to get the grill to full temp and get the chips burning. Once the chips are smoking good, add your meat and adjust the temp. When you are close to done, leave the lid closed and shut off the gas. It will smoke the meat like a pellet grillâ¦.âRead more reviews here!

Propane Gas Tank For Grill
A gas grill propane tank provides the gas for the gas grills. You can buy most propane tanks for grills at your local or chain hardware or grocery stores. Once you used up all of the gas and the tank is empty, you have two option you can either refill the tank yourself or exchange it for a full replacement tank at a local retailer.
This is not a real gas grill part, but it is a part you have to have if you want your grill to work. You cant start a fire without the fuel so make sure that you always have a spare propane gas tank for grill so you can grill your meal at any time.
It is hard to tell which type or even brand for this situation is the best. It actually depends on a lot of things so if you have one propane tank for the grill you are satisfied with, I strongly recommend you to stick to it and use only that one.
Gas Grill Ignitor
Today, most gas grills come with electric instastart ignitiors that turn the grill on within seconds. You dont have to use matches or lighters, you simply have to push the button on the gas grill ignitor. Which Grill Cover Material Is Best
Generally speaking, you should avoid easy to tear materials or any felt lined or flannel lined covers.; These materials generally wont last a long time and will look ratty after a year or so of use.; You also run the risk of small critters tearing off pieces of your cover to use for building their nest.
The best grill cover materials are vinyl, polyester, oilcloth, and weather-proof nylon.; There are plenty of options available on the market in these types of materials, so finding one shouldnt be an issue.

Rule #9 The Grills Grates
Cast Iron grates ;are recommended for maximizing heat transfer .
Stainless steel grates have a nice advantage that they can be cleaned very easily. There are also massive stainless steel grates, which provide both cleanness and good heat absorption!
Enamel coated grates are less recommended. Their only ; role is the as plane ;for laying the meat on.
Our tip: The more massive the grate, the better.
Benefits Of Using Propane For Bbqs
Propane is a popular choice for BBQ lovers around the UK, and heres just a few of the reasons why:
Cooks All Year Round Propane is capable of burning efficiently all year round, so that means if you simply cant wait until summer to fire up your BBQ, propane gas may be your best bet.
Ease of Use Propane is plug and play when it comes to starting up a BBQ, simply connect your BBQ to the propane gas cannister and youll have your food cooking in next to no time.
Taste There are some people who argue that butane powered BBQs dont taste anywhere near as nice as propane powered ones. If too much gas is used when cooking with butane, there can be a slight taste of the gas in your food. Well let you decide which is better though!
Instant and Efficient Burn Waiting for a coal fire to light and heat up can be a nightmare, especially when you have a hungry family all keen to eat some delicious BBQ food. Propane gas is instant lighting and burns at almost full heat immediately, so its a great choice for anyone looking to cut out the hassle of lighting a coal fire.
Easy to Clean Thanks to a naturally cleaner burn than most BBQ heating alternatives, propane powered BBQs are significantly easier to clean. Simply wipe down the grill and youre ready to use your BBQ again.

So Why Did Gas Grills Use Lava Rocks
Now that we know why lava stones have since been largely phased out in the gas grill industry, it is only fair to help you understand why they were used in the first place. The following are among some of the reasons.
- Heat Distribution
Many people prefer gas grills to charcoal grills since the former requires less energy to set up and use.
However, one of the downsides of gas grills is that they tend to use heat from the gas directly, therefore leading to uneven heat distribution. This explains why you might find hot spots on your grilled steak.
Therefore, to curb this uneven heat distribution, lava rocks were introduced to aid in spreading heat evenly. This in turn led to food cooking properly without causing hot spots.
- Heat Retention
This is another major reason that necessitated the use of lava rocks. Gas grills, unlike charcoal grills, do not retain their heat. This means that the food may not end up cooking properly.
As such, to curb that, lava rocks were placed to help in retaining heat, since they tend to hold on to heat for a long time. In fact, with lava rocks, the food can continue cooking even after switching off the grill. This, therefore, helps you to save your gas.
- Smoky Flavor
- Reduced Cooking Time
Lava rocks increase the surface area for cooking since the entire barrier becomes hot. This means that you can cook more than you could with only the gas grills surface area.
- Reduces Flare Ups
Rule #11 The Brand And The Warranty
In choosing a grill, the main element that we must take into account is who the manufacturer is and how much warranty the product is given.
Our rule: The higher the manufacturers warranty, the greater the confidence in the quality and efficiency of the product.
There are manufacturers who come and go and leave the consumer looking and wandering to find spare parts. It is equally important that the agent that you are buying from ;has spare parts. Gas grills and parts are very important and should not be underestimated, since the product has to endure under harsh weather, in the transition between heat and cold, between rain and sun, etc.
Assume that over time you will need the spare parts. Another small tip It is important to know that buying a grill from an anonymous manufacturer or importer may save you a few dollars on the purchase, but later you will likely get expensive repair service. Or worse, you may not even find parts for your BBQ and you will have to put it on your balcony as a silent statue for the savings youve made Grill is a product that, if you buy it right, daily enjoyment will be not only from this barbecue machine, but also to an innovative hobby and steak house in your home!
Out tip: recommended BBQs should give at least years warranty on burners

Three Ways To Know How Much Gas Is In Your Barbecue Cylinder
Barbecue season is in full swing here in Louisiana and Arkansas time to get out and cooking on your propane barbecue grill! Just make sure you dont run out of gas in the middle of your next summer cookout.
This can sometimes happen for one simple reason: most 20-pound propane barbecue cylinders dont have a fuel gauge. That means you will need some other way to figure out how much propane gas is left in your tank.
Fortunately, there are simple ways to do that. Here are three of them:
- Fill a small bucket with warm or hot tap water.
- Pour the water down the side of the tank.
- Feel for a cool spot on the side of the tank with your hand.
The top of the cool spot is the fill level of the tank; the spot is cool because the liquid propane inside the tank absorbs heat from the water, making the metal wall of the tank cool to the touch.
- Inline pressure gauges, which are installed between the grills gas line and the cut-off valve on the tank;
- Analog propane scales, which look like luggage scales and are pre-set to take your tanks TW into account; and
- Digital propane tank scales, which provide a digital readout of remaining cook time and gas fill percentage .
Is It Safe To Grill Under An Awning
An awning is a bit of a different story.
Air flows much better without the restriction of the screen. This means you may be able to get by grilling underneath an awning as long as you have proper clearance . Even though you can, extreme care should still be taken.
Similar to a screened in porch, the burning gas and charcoal could stain your ceiling over a long enough time period. Flame-ups, sparks, and grease fires could also be a lot more damaging under an awning than open air. Uncontrolled grill fires are dangerous under any circumstances, but are exponentially more problematic with a structure overhead.
For that reason, you should keep an inspected fire extinguisher nearby, as well as a spray water bottle to handle flame-ups and sparks. However, even with precautions, grilling under an awning is still more dangerous than grilling under nothing at all.
The Captain did take all precautions, and like usual, I was prepared for the worst. I had my spray bottle and I had an inspected fire extinguisher nearby . However, accidents can and do happen, even with the best of intentions.
In retrospect, Larry just wanted to protect the house and party guests. He might have had a bad experience with a grill under a covered porch, who can say?

Charcoal In A Gas Grill
For the majority of;gas grills, you should not be adding charcoal. They are designed to handle the heat created by burners and not the heat created by burning charcoal. That’s a very important distinction to make and it could save your grill.
There are many reasons for this. First of all, charcoal will fill your gas grill with ash, which is a mess to clean up. It’s also very likely that you will have hot burning embers falling out of your grill.
The best argument, however, is that the heat from burning charcoal can cause a significant amount of damage to the;components of a gas grill. If you throw charcoal into a gas grill, you will probably have to replace several parts, if not the entire grill itself. The burners of many modern grills, in particular, are easily damaged and can be clogged with ash and debris.

Weber Q3200 Review My Opnion
The model number for the Liquid propane grill is 57060001 and for the natural gas model 57067001.With the two colors, white and red available this Weber Q grill can fit any situation.
The battery operated ignition functions pretty well and although it is not my favorite and I prefer the push-button type, I could not find many complaints about it than the normal replacement of the batteries every year. It runs on an AA battery and this is included in the box.
The grill comes almost fully assembled and just needs some minor assembly like the pins in the hood and someone mentioned that he had to fasten 4 bolts on the legs. All you have to do in most cases is put the grill grates in and you are good to go.
If you lower the side tables you can use the smaller standard 6553 model grill cover. If you do not like to fold them down you will have to look for a much larger grill cover, but we found that the Weber 7112 fits the Q3200 and the older models read the Weber 7112 grill cover review here. This grill will be great for patios and even on a balcony. Some balconies might be a little smaller than the grill is wide but with one side table folded down, it should fit.The width with the side tables up is 4 foot 10 inches and with the tables folded down 3 foot 3 inches.
I am a big fan of the porcelain enameled, cast iron grill grates. The cast iron retains the heat very well and the enamel makes it easy to clean.
