Burners And Warming Trays
Many Weber gas grills feature side burners, which you can use for whipping a sauce or grilling vegetables while you prepare meat in the main cooking area. Some models have two burners while others have up to six. Once again, consider how many people you usually cook for to determine the number of burners youll need.
Some Weber gas grills also have warming trays to keep cooked food warm while you finish grilling.
Best Overall Electric: Weber Q 1400 Electric Grill
Durable and easy to transport
Cast iron cooking grates help retain heat
For an electric grill that performs great wherever there is a power outlet, choose the Q1400 from Weber. This compact but mighty electric grill delivers great flavor and doesnt require propane or charcoal.
Instead, plug the unit into an electrical outlet, adjust the temperature setting, and then get ready to grill. The key to using the Q1400 successfully is to wait a sufficient amount of time for the grill to come to temperature. Once you do, people find that the 189 square inches of cooking space can handle the grilling needs of anywhere from one person to four or moredepending on what youre cooking up. This is the smaller of Webers two electric grill models, but if you dont absolutely need the extra space, the smaller Q1400 has been found to have faster heat recovery.
With porcelain-enameled cast-iron grates, youll get excellent heat retention and easy cleanup. The Weber Q1400 is a great choice if you live in a condo or other small space where the use of gas and charcoal grills may be restricted or if you want an easy-to-use unit that only needs to be plugged in.

Grill Cooking Area And Btu
Regardless of what type of Weber grill you decided to go for, a thing to assess before buying is the cooking area and BTU you need. If you want to make a budget-conscious decision, it is important to consider both your needs and fuel efficiency before buying.
In terms of fuel efficiency, the smaller the grill, the less you consume. So, even if youre tempted to buy the biggest appliance out there, running it could be costly if youre only cooking for two.
To assess the right cooking area, the best thing to do is to think of the number of people you want to feed. In broad terms, you will need:

There’s a reason Weber is nearly synonymous with classic, quality grills. The brand has been around since the ’50s, when the founder first invented the kettle grill. Since then, the company has kept the iconic bowl-shaped charcoal grill but also introduced gas grills, electric grills, wood pellet grills, and morenot to mention a range of grilling accessories, from grill thermometers to briquettes.
Weber is known for smart design, solid construction, and generous warranties, whether you’re in the market for a spacious stationary grill to cook for a crowd or a lightweight, portable option fit for camping, tailgating, and more.

This may surprise some of you, but this question still comes up fairly often. From time to time we even see people putting lava rock on top of the heat plates in their gas grills. So do gas grills still need lava rock? Nope! You dont need lava rock in a gas grill thats equipped with heat plates. In fact, adding lava rock could damage it.

The Weber Flavorizer Bar
A feature present on most Weber grills is the Flavorizer bar. It sounds really fancy, and it certainly makes for a strong selling point, except many people hardly understand what purpose it serves. If it got you intrigued too, know that this bar is designed to improve both the overall flavor of the food and your safety.
This bar is placed under the grate and on top of the burners. It catches excess grease and oil, and by doing this, it keeps it from falling onto the burners and vaporizes some of it back onto your food, enriching its taste.

How Does Flavor Vaporize And Infuse Food
In the beginning, there was fire and meat on a stick. Drippings from the meat fell onto the fire and vaporized into smoky flavor that would rise and stick to the meat. Thats a delicious start if I do say so myself. In the last 75 years, gas grill manufacturers have experimented with a variety of heat media to replicate this vaporization process with varying degrees of success. Lets take a quick look.
First, there was good old lava rock. These large, porous volcanic rocks were placed above the burners on a rack. They would absorb and radiate heat with the intensity of the burner. They provided adequate surface area to vaporize juices and fairly even heat. However, because lava rocks are porous, they would soak up juices, grease, and other drippings like a sponge, and there was no good way to clean them. They also didnt protect the burner below and burner rot was a constant issue. The result? They transfer flavors from past meals to future meals in the most unappetizing way. Yummy
On a Broil King history note, we introduced our own Broil King Flav-R-Cast, in the early 90s. It was a cast-iron plate shaped like pillow ceramic briquettes! It was heavy and delivered amazing vaporization and heat retention but would slowly rust away under the abuse of heat and salty-sugary grill juices. Certainly a unique alternative at the time.

Cleaning And Maintenance Of Your Gas Grill
Weber is a great brand when it comes to longevity. Gas grills come with a 10 year comprehensive parts warranty. You can safely use a Weber gas grill 15 years. Here are a few tips on getting the best performance out of your bbq:
How often do I need to clean?
It is a good idea to clean your grill two times a year. If you experience uneven heat, low temperature output from burners or too many flare-ups, its time for a good clean. Start your clean from the top and make your way to the bottom of the grill.
Cleaning the inside of the lid
Over time you will notice a “paint-like” black flaky deposit on the side of the lid. These flakes will eventually peel and fall on your food. Therefore, it is a good idea to clean them off using a brush. You can even wipe these deposits with a paper towel when the grill is warm.
Clean what is under the grates
Weber has 4 functional tiers built on top of the burners. On the top you will see the cooking grates . Right under the grates you will find the triangular stainless steel flavorizer bars. Flavorizer bars help catch grease and turn that grease into smoke to add flavor of your food. Heat deflectors are right under the burners and distribute the heat generated by the powerful burners. Each of these tiers are modular and you can clean them with a stainless steel bristle brush.

- Cart Weber grills: Compact enough to take on camping yet big enough to have in your backyard these grills cater to most needs. They come equipped with large wheels and handles, so they are relatively easy to move. Powered by either gas or charcoal, they even give you the possibility to pick the fuel you like best.
