Ribs are great to cook on the grill. However to get tender ribs, there are a few steps to cooking them WITHOUT BOILING the ribs.
Start by removing the membrane on the back of the ribs. Lift an edge of the tough film and then use a paper towel to help you grab the membrane. If you have a good grip of it, you can pull the whole thing off in one pull. Smear Slow Smoke Gold mustard sauce all over the ribs and then coat both the back and the front generously with House Rub. Let the ribs sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes so the rub can start to draw moisture from the meat and stick to the ribs. If you move the ribs too soon, all of the rub will fall off.
Remove the racks from the grill and let rest for 5 to 10 minutes. Cut between the bones for each portion and serve.

How Long Does It Take To Cook Pork Spare Ribs On A Gas Grill
As mentioned above, the gas grilling does not take as much time as the other types of grill take for example charcoal grill, pellet grills, and many others. This is because the burners are used, which directly heat the plan placed over the grid. In this way, the ribs get indirect but high heat and cook fast.
So when you place the spare ribs in the pan which is preheated at 200 F, you must cover the grill. The tongs are used to maneuver the ribs. A total of 1 hour is required for grilling on a gas grill. If you want to give it a crisp, you can directly heat it for 20-40 minutes more on direct heat.

Tender Grilled Spare Ribs Recipe
This recipe for tender grilled spare ribs is, as you will soon discover, such a great meal to whip up using just four ingredients. First and foremost, it’s delicious and virtually foolproof. As recipe developer Ting Dalton notes, this is “an easy ribs recipe to prepare and always a winner when we have BBQs.” At the same time, this recipe serves as a low-key and incredibly simple primer as to how to make barbecued pork ribs at home.
First, there is Dalton’s choice of spare ribs rather than baby backs. Spare ribs are the way to go for your most tender, full-flavored meat especially if you don’t happen to have an entire day to stand over them as they cook. Complete in just over two hours, Dalton’s recipe produces “meat so tender, just falls off the bone,” she promises. Then there’s Dalton’s choice of using a dry rub to infuse the meat with deep, aromatic flavor before finishing the meat with barbecue sauce. It’s a system that works so well, you might end up using it with other low-and-slow barbecued meats, if you aren’t already! In addition, the rub-before-saucing method offers flexibility. “If you want to have different flavors,” Dalton explains, “you can mix up the rub and sauces.”
Finally, Dalton’s recipe will show how you don’t even need an outdoor grill to make mouthwateringly tender grilled spare ribs. We’ll explain more about that in the directions below.

You start by rubbing racks of pork baby back ribs with an aromatic mix of paprika, chile powder, cumin, coriander, cayenne, salt, pepper and brown sugar. The ribs are then wrapped in foil and cooked covered on the grill over direct medium heat for 1 hour. I personally prefer using a charcoal grill, but you could easily make these on a gas grill. The key is to maintain a temperature of 350°F 400°F within the covered grill.
The ribs are then unwrapped and finished on the grill with the addition of hickory wood chips and store bought barbecue sauce. You baste and turn the ribs a few times over 10 12 minutes, resulting in saucy, smoky, charred ribs. So. Yum.

Ive found that the sweet spot for cooking ribs on the grill is about one hour. Yes, many barbecue restaurants will cook for hours and hours. This is more of a slow-cooking method and theyve got pitmasters to watch those grills like a hawk for hours at a time.
I personally dont have time for that. So if you want to cook pork ribs on the grill at home, I recommend grilling them for 45 minutes with just the dry rub, then dousing them with bbq sauce, flipping them over, and grilling for an additional 15 minutes.
If youre cooking grilled beef ribs, you may need a little more time simply because beef ribs are typically bigger than pork ribs. Adjust your initial cooking time by adding about 15 minutes. If the ribs have an internal temperature of between 200 and 203 degrees F, theyre done and you can move onto the saucing step!

- Mix dry rub seasonings together in a bowl.
- Lightly coat with olive oil and sprinkle with dry rub.
- Prepare a grill fire to 350° with hickory or pecan for smoke flavor.

This weekend were packing the coolers, loading up the truck with big boy toys and heading out of town with friends to the mountains. Its one of our favorite weekends filled with deep breaths in the stunning outdoors, leisurely morning coffee time on the aspen tree-lined deck, and way too much laughter. More than most could possibly bear.
After all, were a funny and sarcastic group. Or at least we think so.
Besides hanging, hiking, and harassing, its the perfect occasion to get together and cook. Our grocery list takes precedence over the contents of our weekend-packed bags. Memorial day calls for chillin and grillin and nothin says grillin like RIBS!
My husband has spent many a day trying various methods to create the most succulent pork baby back ribs to suckle and savor upon. So whats his big secret?
Take them to the oven before they ever hit the fire. Most think baby back ribs need to be cooked over an open grilled flame, but using the grill as a finishing agent instead of your main cooker is the key.
We season then refrigerate, and bake the ribs low and slow until its time for an introduction to the open flame. Sounds like most dating gigs right?
Tips For Making Ribs On The Grill
Make sure youre using apple cider and NOT apple cider vinegar for this grilled ribs recipe. You want non-alcoholic cider that hasnt been flavored with cinnamon or other spices.
Its also important that you place a wire rack in the baking sheet, as you want some of the fat to drip off the ribs. Plus, you dont want them cooking directly in the apple cider.
Finally, when grilling the ribs, heat them on the grill first, then baste with sauce. If you add the sauce too early youll be sure to end up with blackened crusty outtards thanks to the potential for burning the sugar in the barbecue sauce rather than the savory and delicious variety we all crave.
