Does Weber Grill Come With Propane Tank

What Do I Not Like About The Weber Q 3200 Portable Outdoor Propane Gas Grill

How to Install a Propane Tank on a Weber Performer Grill : Home Repair & Maintenance

BOTH the older Q300 series and the new Q3200 series barbecue grills are the only grills in the Weber Q Series that require a standard 20 lb. propane tank which must be purchased separately.

The Weber Q3200 DOES NOT come with an adapter hose for the required 20lb propane tank. You will need to obtain both items separately.

Not being able to use the smaller propane bottles the smaller Qs can, limits the convenient portability of this grill. It may not be the easiest to pick up and carry with you on your next outdoor venture as the grill is not easily removed from the rolling cart.

What Is This Weber Q2200 Liquid Propane Grill Made Of

First of all you have to start with the Weber name. Weber does not scrimp when it comes to the materials used to build their grills. That is why these grills last a long time.

This weber Q2200 portable gas grill is built like a tank. The body and lid are made of thick, cast aluminum. The Weber portable gas grill body is not going to chip and rust like the cheaper coated steel grill will. This means that this grills body is going to last a long time.

The frame is made of glass-reinforced nylon which will probably outlive you. The frame does not get hot and allows you to easily pick this grill up and move it if you have to even right after use.

This grill has been dropped at tailgate parties with virtually no damage due to the solid construction of the lid, body, and frame.

The body of this portable gas grill incorporates drip ducts that channel drippings into a convenient removable drip pan for easy clean-up.

Weber Grill Side Burner

A side burner is an extra burner thats usually located on one of the side tables outside the main grilling area. These can be used for a variety of purposes, but many grillers use them to warm or cook sauces, or to cook additional sides that will accompany the main event. If you often find yourself multitasking while youre grilling, a side burner might be a great idea.

Are Natural Gas Grills Better Than Propane

Bottom line: there is NO performance difference between propane and natural gas unless youre grilling in the arctic. The only major difference is the convenience of natural gas and never running out of fuel. Your choice ultimately boils down to which fuel sources you have access to and the costs in your area.

Upgrade Grill Pick: Weber Genesis Ii E

*At the time of publishing, the price was $780.

The Weber Genesis II E-310 gas grill is also an exceptional performer, and it offers several clever, life-improving design elements that we love. The grates are about 20 percent bigger, too, but overall the Genesis II takes up barely more area than the Spirit II, so theres no appreciable trade-off between the two if your patio space is tight. Essentially, the decision comes down to how youll use your grill: If you often cook for crowds, the Genesis II is worth the extra couple hundred dollars.

Performance-wise, we found the two Weber models nearly identical, with the Spirit just slightly edging the Genesis II on burger-searing performance. And that gap would probably close with a bit more time to learn the Genesis IIs finer points. In terms of materials, the two are almost twins, offering heavy cast-aluminum fireboxes and porcelain-coated cast-iron grates. The Genesis II, however, features a frame made of welded rails, while the Spirit II is made of folded metal . Theyre both sturdy enough, but the Genesis II is appreciably stiffer and more solid-feeling. And we like that it has casters: Its easier to swivel into a corner for storage than the casterless Spirit.

Moving the tank to the outside also frees up space below the grill, which Weber fills with a generous and sturdy storage shelf. Thats a nice feature you can keep trays, grill tools, or even a small cooler there.

Are You Getting What You Give

So you have your new grill and you have your new propane tank. Now lets just go and exchange this empty tank for a full one. Wait, wait, wait. You have a new 20lb propane tank, your tank comes with an automatic 12-year certification. After 12 years 20lb propane tanks must re-qualified by a trained inspector. Exchange companies do this as a matter of course.

When the tanks are re-qualified, a sticker is placed on them that allows to the tank to remain in operation for 5 more years. At the end of that 5 years, the tanks must be inspected again and then can be given another 5-year certification sticker. This goes on and on until the tank is deemed no longer safe. So when exchanging you may not be getting a new tank, but it will be certified.

Fuel Options For The Weber Q

The Weber Q grill is awesome and takes portability to another level for grilling on the go. With that said, the Weber Q also makes for a perfect patio grill. I have a Q1200, a Genesis gas grill and a Performer charcoal grill, I love them all but I find myself gravitating towards the Q most nights.

You have probably seen that the Q uses the small portable gas canisters which you can find at most stores that carry grills. These tanks last for about 1.5-2 hours with standard use. If you are tailgating, camping or just moving your Q around a lot, this tank option will be perfect for you. Just always make sure you have some extras on hand for when you run out.

If you are like me and grill night after night, you will burn through a lot of those small gas canisters. So when my grill is on my patio, I actually like to hook it up to a 20-lb LP tank using the 6 foot adapter hose. You can get the adapter hose online here and it works for the Weber Q 100/1000 and 200/2000 series gas grills and the Gas-Go Anywhere.

The flexibility with the fuel options really helps make this grill portable or stationary, depending on how and where you want to use it.

Grill on!

The Airstream Weber Q1200 Gas Grill

Most travel trailers feature an onboard propane system to fuel water heaters, furnaces, and stovetops. But because that onboard propane system uses a low pressure feed of propane, conventional gas grills can’t hook up to the on-board propane system.

Now, renowned grill manufacturer Weber has teamed up with Airstream on an official Airstream gas grill capable of hooking up to your Airstream’s onboard propane system.

The partnership between Airstream and Weber developed out of an idea that longtime Airstream Senior Vice President of Operations Mark Wahl had while camping in Georgia. A seasoned camping enthusiast, Wahl was walking around the campsite and noticed that many of the sites had a gas grill, but 100 percent of those gas grills were powered by small, portable propane tanks. Wahl knew you could buy gas grills that hooked up to onboard propane systems, but Wahl wanted something with the promise of Airstream quality that could do away with those extra tanks.

Enter the official Airstream Weber® Q®1200 the perfect campsite size with the convenience of an onboard propane system hookup.

Plug in and invite friends to relax and enjoy a drink while steaks grill right outside your Airstream Travel Trailer. Whether you travel on or off the beaten path, camp in the woods or near the shore you’ll be able to explore the world with big taste with your Q 1200 portable gas grill by your side.

What Do I Like About The Weber Q 320 / Q 3200 Portable Outdoor Propane Gas Grill

FIRST, you can not miss the generous cooking surface of the Weber Q 3200. With a full 393 square inch cooking surface over 2 stainless steel burners and a 69 square inch warming rack, there is plenty of room for that festive outdoor occasion.

The picture on the left shows the older Q300 grill, which has the same cooking surface as the Q3200, with 8 chicken thighs, 19 drumsticks, and 8 chicken wings. That should be enough to get the party going.

SECOND, this grill has the electronic ignition for quick starting, and with a full 21,700 BTU output reaches full cooking temperature in no time at all.

The built-in thermometer allows you to easily monitor the internal cooking temperatures to ensure that what you are cooking comes out just the way you like it.

The thermometer records temperatures up to 600 degrees, fully sufficient for that perfect sear.

THIRD, the tall lid profile that was first introduced on the Weber Q 220 propane gas grill and continued with the Q 300 and now the Q 3200 provides enough room to cook two whole chickens if desired. With the adjustable burner controls, you have the ability to grill fast and hot or to cook slowly and at lower temperatures.

FIFTH, unique to this barbecue grill is the included stationary cart. When bolted to this cart, the Weber 3200, while still somewhat portable, becomes more of a permanent feature in your outdoor cooking arena. The included wheels permit easy mobility.

Replacing Your Propane Tanks

If your Weber Grill is propane-based, you should make sure you have a fuel supply at the ready before you start cooking. One extra convenience of a Weber natural gas grill is having a constant source of fuel, though propane can be economical and convenient for those who do not have natural gas in their house or who cannot install an additional gas line to their yard.

Do You Have 20lbs Of Propane In Your 20lb Tank

Ok so you have a 20lb propane tank, but do you have 20lbs of propane? In short, if you refill you do, if you exchange you dont. Across the board exchange companies must transport all these 20lb propane tanks when they are full, or at least somewhat full. Then by the very nature of the exchange setup the tanks are stored at the exchange location in groups.

We have all gone to exchange our propane tank and an employee opens a big cage which houses a bunch of 20lb tanks all in proximity. Here is the catch. Exchange companies, due to transporting and storing multiple 20lb propane tanks in proximity of each other, are only allowed to fill the tanks with 15-17lbs of propane, not 20lbs. When you refill your propane, it gets filled to the top within a fraction of the 20lb mark.

A Separate Propane Grill Tank Is Safer

The grill tank in your backyard contains an automatic shut-off valve for safety. When you connect your grill directly to your home supply, you lose this safety feature. You have to remember to turn off the gas every time.

If you forget, too much gas can up in your grill. This could lead to a dangerous combustion the next time someone turns on the grills ignition knob.
