What Do I Not Like About The Weber Q 3200 Portable Outdoor Propane Gas Grill
BOTH the older Q300 series and the new Q3200 series barbecue grills are the only grills in the Weber Q Series that require a standard 20 lb. propane tank which must be purchased separately.
The Weber Q3200 DOES NOT come with an adapter hose for the required 20lb propane tank. You will need to obtain both items separately.
Not being able to use the smaller propane bottles the smaller Qs can, limits the convenient portability of this grill. It may not be the easiest to pick up and carry with you on your next outdoor venture as the grill is not easily removed from the rolling cart.
What Is This Weber Q2200 Liquid Propane Grill Made Of
First of all you have to start with the Weber name. Weber does not scrimp when it comes to the materials used to build their grills. That is why these grills last a long time.
This weber Q2200 portable gas grill is built like a tank. The body and lid are made of thick, cast aluminum. The Weber portable gas grill body is not going to chip and rust like the cheaper coated steel grill will. This means that this grills body is going to last a long time.
The frame is made of glass-reinforced nylon which will probably outlive you. The frame does not get hot and allows you to easily pick this grill up and move it if you have to even right after use.
This grill has been dropped at tailgate parties with virtually no damage due to the solid construction of the lid, body, and frame.
The body of this portable gas grill incorporates drip ducts that channel drippings into a convenient removable drip pan for easy clean-up.

Are Natural Gas Grills Better Than Propane
Bottom line: there is NO performance difference between propane and natural gas unless youre grilling in the arctic. The only major difference is the convenience of natural gas and never running out of fuel. Your choice ultimately boils down to which fuel sources you have access to and the costs in your area.

The grates are about 20 percent bigger, too, but overall the Genesis II takes up barely more area than the Spirit II, so theres no appreciable trade-off between the two if your patio space is tight. Essentially, the decision comes down to how youll use your grill: If you often cook for crowds, the Genesis II is worth the extra couple hundred dollars.
Performance-wise, we found the two Weber models nearly identical, with the Spirit just slightly edging the Genesis II on burger-searing performance. And that gap would probably close with a bit more time to learn the Genesis IIs finer points. In terms of materials, the two are almost twins, offering heavy cast-aluminum fireboxes and porcelain-coated cast-iron grates. The Genesis II, however, features a frame made of welded rails, while the Spirit II is made of folded metal . Theyre both sturdy enough, but the Genesis II is appreciably stiffer and more solid-feeling. And we like that it has casters: Its easier to swivel into a corner for storage than the casterless Spirit.
Moving the tank to the outside also frees up space below the grill, which Weber fills with a generous and sturdy storage shelf. Thats a nice feature you can keep trays, grill tools, or even a small cooler there.

Are You Getting What You Give
So you have your new grill and you have your new propane tank. Now lets just go and exchange this empty tank for a full one. Wait, wait, wait. You have a new 20lb propane tank, your tank comes with an automatic 12-year certification. After 12 years 20lb propane tanks must re-qualified by a trained inspector. Exchange companies do this as a matter of course.
When the tanks are re-qualified, a sticker is placed on them that allows to the tank to remain in operation for 5 more years. At the end of that 5 years, the tanks must be inspected again and then can be given another 5-year certification sticker. This goes on and on until the tank is deemed no longer safe. So when exchanging you may not be getting a new tank, but it will be certified.

Fuel Options For The Weber Q
The Weber Q grill is awesome and takes portability to another level for grilling on the go. With that said, the Weber Q also makes for a perfect patio grill. I have a Q1200, a Genesis gas grill and a Performer charcoal grill, I love them all but I find myself gravitating towards the Q most nights.
You have probably seen that the Q uses the small portable gas canisters which you can find at most stores that carry grills. These tanks last for about 1.5-2 hours with standard use. Ok so you have a 20lb propane tank, but do you have 20lbs of propane? In short, if you refill you do, if you exchange you dont. Across the board exchange companies must transport all these 20lb propane tanks when they are full, or at least somewhat full. Then by the very nature of the exchange setup the tanks are stored at the exchange location in groups.
We have all gone to exchange our propane tank and an employee opens a big cage which houses a bunch of 20lb tanks all in proximity. Here is the catch. Exchange companies, due to transporting and storing multiple 20lb propane tanks in proximity of each other, are only allowed to fill the tanks with 15-17lbs of propane, not 20lbs. When you refill your propane, it gets filled to the top within a fraction of the 20lb mark.
