Star Cinema Grill Acquires Two Chicago Area Theatres
Houston-based Star Cinema Grill today announced that it has executed lease agreements and plans to soon re-open two former IPIC locations in the Chicago suburbs of South Barrington and Bolingbrook.
Star Cinema Grill is expected to begin operations at both locations in the first quarter of 2022. Star Cinema Grill remains in active negotiations to pick up more locations that complement the portfolio of the existing circuit.
Planned improvements include upgrading, in 100 percent of the auditoriums, new premium recliner seats, all with seat heaters as well as seat-side food and beverage service to all seats, not just the premium sections. These locations will also offer Star Cinema Grills Premium Pod Seating, which have added amenities that guests will love like privacy walls, blankets and priority food and beverage service.
The menus will also be updated to be much more approachable for the communities that these theatres serve. With favorites like house made everything but the bagel hummus, southwest eggrolls, hand battered chicken tenders, strawberry chicken and walnut salad and many more American grill selections in addition to the full bar that guests have come to enjoy at the movies.

This company has horrible draconian rules and do not advertise on there website. Kids under 5 years of age can only be let in on certain days of the week and are made to where masks on the days they are allowed in the store. My Two year old daughter was very excited to see her Disney movie at 11 am in the morning and was completely disappointed that she was not allowed in. At the very least, this company should disclose these rules at the point of our online purchase of the tickets instead making the trip to the store with my 2 year old having her hopes up to see her movie.Before the virus, we often enjoyed this theater and dumped a few hundred dollars at least once a month. We will never be returning to Star Cinema Grill again
Star Cinema Grill Becomes Latest Texas Chain To Announce Phased Reopening
This week has seen two big news items in the theatrical exhibition spaceAMCs battle with Universal over PVOD titles and the gradual reopening of movie theaters in Texas. The second of those stories continues today with dine-in chain Star Cinema Grills announcement that it plans to open one of its theatersthe Baybrook Lifestyle Center location, in the Houston areanext Friday, May 8.
As with the Texas chains that have previously announced reopeningsSantikos Entertainment, EVO Entertainment, and ShowBiz Cinemas Star Cinema Grill will be enacting increased sanitation and social distancing measures. They will limit their overall capacity to 25%, per Texas state regulation.
Baybrooks week one programming will consist of a series of repertory titlesincluding the Harry Potter films, The Goonies, Beverly Hills Cop, The Wizard of Oz, and Mean Girls, as well as more recent films Wonder Woman and LEGO Batmanall priced at $4 per ticket.
All employees will have their temperatures taken before each shift and will be asked to fill in a questionnaire and sign a document to the effect that they were checked for illness and gave true and accurate information about the state of their health. There is no information in Star Cinema Grills opening guidelines related to recommended or required mask use by customers.

Star Cinema Grill Showcases New Houston
The trend of new drive-in movie theaters a socially distanced way to enjoy a film shows no signs of slowing. Houston’s Star Cinema Grill has added a drive-in to its Cypress location at 8920 Fry Rd.
Star Cinema will screen both vintage and first-run films at the drive-in. Showings begin at 8:15 pm every Thursday – Sunday with a second showing at 10:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. Tickets, $18 per car, may be purchased via the theater’s app.
Being able to put together a drive-in theater and show new release movies is really exciting, Star Cinema vice president Jason Ostrow said in a statement. We have heard the demand from our guests and responded, as we always do.
Tenet, the new film from director Christopher Nolan, will be first on the schedule. Future runs screen both Bill and Ted Face the Music and Wonder Woman 1984.
Movie goers will have a full range of concessions available from the Star Cinema Grill kitchen, as well as beer, wine, and liquor. Drink specials from Karbach Brewery and Silver Eagle Distributors will be available each night.
