Can I Prep Foil Wrapped Corn Ahead
Cooking corn on the cob in foil is also a great way to cook corn when camping. You can pre-wrap your ears before leaving home and they are ready to toss into the campfire when you get to your campsite! I do recommend double-wrapping the corn in two layers of foil if you plan to cook it in a campfire.
How Long To Cook Corn On The Cob In Foil
Because the corn is grilled in foil, it is harder to tell when it is fully cooked. However, avoid piercing the cob with a knife or a fork to check for doneness as it will cause the juices to seep out.
Instead, allow the corn to grill for at least 20 minutes, remove it from the grill, and then allow it to cool for about 5 minutes. Open the foil and then just simply press the kernels with a pairing knife to check for the desired tenderness. If it is not grilled to your liking, enclose it in the foil, and then place it back on the grill for another five to ten minutes, turning it twice.
You should also note that white corn cooks faster than yellow corn, in about 10 minutes however, bi-color corn, like yellow corn, takes about 20 minutes to cook. The fresher the corn, the less cooking time it will also take.
How To Grill Corn On The Cob In The Husk
The first way how to bbq corn in the husk is by soaking the corn on a plate of water. If you want to remove the silk before grilling, husk the corn by grabbing the leafy part at the opposite end of the stem and just pull it apart but dont remove the husk. Doing so will expose the kennels. This can get a bit messy, though. You may do it over the sink or the garbage can. Then, pull off the silk and smooth the husk back up.
Grilling corn in its husk will help keep in moisture, giving you a juicier and plumper ear of corn. On the outside, the husk will char completely. The tender kennels will steam perfectly, and the silk will come off cleanly. Easy peasy.
How long to bbq corn in the husk, you ask? Again, it depends. But a good 20-30 minutes of total cooking time should be safe. You are now ready to pull the corn ears off the grill!

Choosing The Best Corn On The Cob:
When trying to find the best corn cobs, try not to peel back the husk as it dries out the cob and exposes the cob to fungi. Instead, look for ears that are bright green.
The husk should be tight and the silk should be moist and soft. Use your fingers to feel for plump kernels through the silk covering. Finally, the weight of the ear should match the size.
They are best when fresh off the corn stalk. If you see a roadside stand or farmers market, that is the place to go to get the freshest corn.
Buy in season. Even the corn at the grocery store is pretty fresh than other times of the year. And it is definitely less expensive. Just last week my local market had ears for 10 cents each.
Confession: Even though fresh is the best, I dont always run to the market each time I want corn on the cob, nor is it always available. So when the corn is selling at great prices Ill buy several ears to keep in the freezer.

As you might imagine, grilled corn is best when enjoyed immediately. If you do have leftovers, you can store them in the fridge for up to 3 days.
I don’t recommend reheating grilled corn. Instead, you can remove it from the cob and enjoy it in salads or salsa. The charred corn will add extra flavor to this black bean and corn salad but you can add it to any other salad too.
