- A plus when grilling at high heat: Excessive heat can result in the creation of harmful substances while cooking. A marinade with an acidic base can help reduce the formation of these chemicals.
- Dry Chicken: Marinades will tenderize the chicken by breaking down the tissues of the meat, which helps keep it from drying out.

How To Grill Chicken Wings : Lets Get Seasoning
After youve prepped your wings, its important to consider seasoning before you toss them on the grill. The possibilities for flavors and seasonings are virtually endless.
Some people enjoy a nice spicy dry rub. Others like their chicken wings smothered in a sweet, tangy barbecue sauce.
There are even purists who say that a pinch of salt and pepper is all thats needed and that the flavor of the grilled wing should come from the smoky caramelization that happens on the grill. Theres no wrong answer when it comes to flavoring your wings, and it all comes down to personal preference.
Regardless of how you choose to flavor them, there are a few things you need to do to prepare the wings for grilling.
First, make sure that you pat your chicken as dry as possible. Any excess water can create steam which could rob your chicken wing of the critical crispiness that comes from grilling it.
Rubbing a little oil on the wing can help the seasonings adhere to the skin, but be careful not to use too much since it can drip into your grill and create dangerous flare-ups. Also, be sure to use a high-heat oil such as vegetable or canola so that your wings dont burn.

Is It Better To Grill Frozen Chicken Wings
There are pros and cons when it comes to grilling the best wings. Frozen chicken wings have a particular set of challenges that cause some grill lovers to pass on this type of recipe.
First and most importantly, no one wants to consume raw chicken and risk contracting salmonella. When it comes to meat, this is not something to mess around with. Theres the misconception that grilling frozen chicken wings increases the risk of this. As long as you cook the wings thoroughly, this isnt a problem.
When you cook unthawed chicken wings, they will require extra time to achieve a complete cook. You want to make sure the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F with an instant-read thermometer.
Then theres the fact that some are afraid this type of wings recipe will create rubbery, chewy wings because of the additional moisture. The unthawed chicken will rapidly dethaw on the grill, creating a different texture when cooked than raw chicken that has been dethawed first. Still, the chicken doesnt become too chewy or tough with this method if you follow the right steps.

Should I Flip The Wings
Only if you want to, its not necessary. The pellet grill uses combustion heat to cook the foods, meaning it will easily cook both sides of the wing. However, I prefer to flip mine because I like the grill markings on both sides.
Plus, flipping them helps make the whole wing crispier, instead of just one side.
Internal Temperature Tells You When The Wing Is Done
Chicken wings are not a one size fits all type of cooking. You have to keep a close eye on them and move them around as needed since the thickness varies widely. It is not possible to rely on cooking times when grilling wings.
Also, if you use the often-quoted when the juices run clear its done method, you might end up serving wings that are either over-cooked or not quite done. Your football parties will have a short life if you serve either one to your guests.
So, you should always go by internal temperature to determine how long to grill chicken wings. Get out your meat thermometer and test each piece before shutting down the grill.
It may be a little harder to use the thermometer with wings since the meat on some pieces doesnt give you much to work with. But insert it into the thickest part of each wing, staying away from the bone. The wings need to reach an internal temperature of 165 before you can serve them up. Some outdoor cooks prefer the internal temperature to reach around 175 for meat that pulls away from the bone easier, yet isnt overcooked.

How Long To Grill Wings
We recommend grilling chicken wings at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes, turning them halfway through the process. The safe internal temperature for chicken is 165 degrees, but most people like their wings cooked to a higher temperature . You can use an instant read thermometer to check the temperature of the wings, but because wings don’t have a lot of meat, it can be difficult to get a reading. If the meat starts to pull away from the bone, it’s a sign the wings are fully cooked.
