How to Assemble a Weber Genesis II Grill (Step by Step of E435 Model)

How to Make Sure Your Hamburger Is Cooked in the Middle

Americas love affair with grilling began right after World War II, according to Born to Grill, and based on the proliferation of grills available, it appears that the feelings havent waned. In 1952 an employee of Weber Brothers Metal Works took advantage of Americas passion and created Webers first grill. Weber introduced the Genesis gas grill 30 years later with an innovated system of metal bars to distribute the heat evenly. The Weber Genesis gas grill requires proper timing and correct temperature to achieve your favorite degree of doneness in your steak.

Move the Genesis grilling grates so they sit 4 inches above the burners. Spray the grates with a light coating of vegetable oil cooking spray.

Check the control knobs on your Weber Genesis gas grill to confirm they are in the Off position. Turn the gas cylinder valve counterclockwise to supply gas to the grill.

Turn the middle or front burner knob to Start/High. Press the electronic igniter button or use a barbecue lighter to light the burner on your Weber Genesis grill.

Turn all the burner knobs to High and close the lid on the Genesis grill. Allow the grill to preheat for 10 to 15 minutes.

Cook over high heat for 10 minutes for steaks 1 1/4-inch thick and thicker. Cook over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes for steaks less than 1 1/4-inch thick.

When we first saw this grill, we immediately became guilty of one of the oldest crimes known to man judging a book by its cover. But you really cant blame us. The grill is excellently designed to match the impressive features it sports. Theres no way we wouldnt have just assumed it was good. But, beyond assuming, we went ahead actually to test it out.

Were particularly fond of the iGrill 3 thermometer. Its incredibly helpful. This is especially so when youre not in the immediate surroundings of your BBQ on the grill. We do wish that the grill was a bit less heavy. But, the fitted wheels make it easy to move the grill around. So, you dont quite have much to worry about.

The Grill Isnt Heating Up

This complaint is usually caused by issues with the regulator. The regulator is the small segment of pipe that connects the grill to the gas supply. Weber grill regulator problems can cause the burners to produce only a tiny glimmer of flameor sometimes none at all.

If the issue isnt with the igniter system or the gas supply, a regulator reset could do the trick. First, turn all the burner control knobs and the tank valve to their OFF positions. Take the regulator valve off the gas tank by pulling the metal collar toward the tank, then pulling the valve in the opposite direction.

When youve removed the valve, turn each burner knob to HIGH and wait for at least one minute, then switch them all off again.

Next, youll want to hook the regulator valve back up. Pull the metal collar back toward the tank and insert the tip of the valve directly into the tank. Make sure the valve is secure, then switch the tank valve back on. Attempt to use the grill as you normally would.
