Weber Grills Everything You Need To Know
Weber grills have some of the same fancy features that Napoleon grills have. Weber was founded on the belief that we should all be able to enjoy delicious meals outside with the people that we love the most. All the grills are made with drive, passion, and curiosity.
Weber grills are bound to make your grilling experiences easier and better than ever before. The first Weber grill was made in 1952 by George Stephen. He loved grilling steaks and barbecue for his family and friends. After making his innovative grill design, Weber quickly became one of the worlds top leading barbecue brands.
The grill company has kept its midwestern roots by manufacturing its grills in Illinois, near Chicago. All the grill parts are proudly made in the USA. They individually inspect every grill and make sure that they all have the perfect amount of durability, workmanship, and quality. Their jobs and manufacturing process also support the local community and economy.
Their grills can be shipped all over the world and people love using them even in international cities such as Paris, Berlin, Mexico City, Toronto, Sydney, and Tokyo. All their grill recipes are globally inspired.
How We Picked The Best Gas Grill
We had three firm criteria that our main contenders had to meet:
Finally, we restricted our search to grills that burn propane from refillable tanks, the most common fuel by far, but you should note that most grills can also run on natural gasthough converting to natural gas isnt cheap or simple.1
We didnt fret much over two other factors that grill-makers spend a lot of time talking about: total Btu count and the grates material. First, the total Btu count on three-burner grills tends to vary between 30,000 and 40,000, and the industry is making a strong push toward more is better. But our research and reporting convinced us that at least as important as the total output was whether those Btus were applied efficiently, steadily, and evenly across the grates. We decided to reserve judgment until our tests.
We knew we would be looking at intangibles, too, such as how well the grills were packed, if the instructions were clear, and if assembly was reasonably straightforward. And, of course, we would consider the biggest intangible of all: the grills ability to perform in our tests.
But those judgments would have to wait until we got our hands on the contenders. So after weeks of research, reporting, and discussion, we settled on four gas grills to test in our main $400 to $700 category, and two grills around the $200 mark to test as budget options.

Although its not in top shape, my C model WSM still cooks up a storm. My father found this gem for me approximately 12 years ago sitting in a moving sale. Asking price was $15.00 and he talked them down to $5.00. Didnt fully appreciate what he had gotten me until I found out what it was and what real Qing was about. I now own three, and all are being used in competitions yearly.
Weber 51010001 Q1200 Liquid Propane Grill
Why youll love this:
I am sure I mentioned somewhere in here that I love portable grills. And the Q1200 is one of my favorites.
I also think by now it is clear I am sucker for color on my grills, and this model comes in an array of fantastic colors: red, green, fuschia, black, blue, orange and titanium.
Okay, yes. My favorite color is still red but that is not the reason I consider this the best portable grill.
What We Didnt Like
- Cooking timer can only go up to 99 minutes
The cooking surface area on the Performer Deluxe grill is 363 square inches, meaning it is not tiny, but it is not too bulky either. It is just enough to hold food for a small party.
I am also impressed by the ignition mechanism which is just a button. If you know how messy lighting charcoal can get, then you understand my enthusiasm over a button.
The grill offers users prep room, so that you can do all your food preparation in one place.
But my favorite aspect of this grill is the cart bottom that Weber used instead of the traditional three legs. It looks like a gas grill with a charcoal grill top. However if you want to achieve the smoker wood fire taste then you might want to check the Weber SmokeFire Pellet Grill.
But here is the best part:
This model has an aluminized steel one-touch cleaning system. Combine that with the porcelain enameled grate and this is a very easy grill to clean after use.

Flaws But Not Dealbreakers
We wish Weber would take a cue from some competitors and make the bars of its warming racks run front to back, parallel to the main grates. That way, you could easily slide a spatula under stuff thats warming. As it is, the warming-rack bars run edge to edge, and you have to awkwardly jimmy a spatula in there sideways.
The Spirit II E-310 should come with a grill cover. It doesnt, nor did any grill in our test group. Youll need to buy one separately Webers dedicated Spirit II cover costs about $55, and a well-regarded generic cover costs about $20.
Gas Grill Vs Charcoal Grill
If youre buying a grill, your first decision is which type of fuel: charcoal or gas.
Gas grills offer three big benefits:
- Control: Adjusting the heat is a simple matter of turning the burner knobs, so you can easily prevent burning or undercooking, as well as create different heat zones by shutting down one or more burner . You can do the same with charcoal, too, but it takes workyou need to move the coals around and adjust the vents.
- Convenience: Gas grills turn on with the press of a button and heat up fast. Charcoal grills require 20 minutes or so to light the coals and another 10 minutes or so for the grates to heat up.
- Cleanliness: Gas grills dont generate much smoke and dont produce ash or embers the way charcoal grills do, so cleanup is simpleyou just have to brush and wipe the grates and empty the grease trap after youre done cooking.
That said, charcoal grills have several upsides of their own. Charcoal burns hotter than gas, so you can get a superior sear on burgers and steaks. You can buy an exceptional, do-everything charcoal grill for $150 gas grills start at around $200, and youll spend at least twice that on a really good one. Lastly, theres the romance factor: For some people, its more fun to play with fire than to twiddle a few knobs.

I was attending an estate auction when I came across a box which appeared to have a small charcoal grill in it. Upon further inspection, I noticed it was a Weber smoker.
I was sure someone was gonna outbid me, but I won at $18. When I got home, I removed the smoker from the box and found out that it had never been used. I did not know much about the art of smoking or about these smokers until I stumbled across your site.
Well, I have been smoking this little guy every weekend since and the whole family loves the meals this thing turns out. This smoker has been a blast to use along with your site, and it will be smoking for a long time to come.
Ten Surprising Products Still Made In America
Try taking your everyday shopping trip to your nearest department or grocery store and buy only American. A little difficult? Employment in Americas manufacturing sector has experienced a precipitous decline in recent years. The U.S. lost 33.1 percent of its manufacturing jobs between 2000-2010, according to the Information Technology & Innovation Foundation. Many of those jobs ended up going to countries such as China, India and Brazil that provide cheaper labor and have looser employment regulations.
But because costs of labor and energy are now on the rise overseas, manufacturing may be in the early stages of a rebound in the U.S. An April study by the Boston Consulting Group found that a third of manufacturers with revenue over $1 billion were considering moving jobs back to the United States. At 58 cents an hour, bringing manufacturing back was impossible, but at $3 to $6 an hour, where wages are today in coastal China, all of a sudden the equation changes, Harold L. Sirkin, a managing director at BCG told The New York Times.
While some companies are considering returning jobs to the U.S., some brands never went away. 24/7 Wall St. compiled a list of 10 highly visible American brands that are still made in the States. All of the products are well known to consumers. While most are market leaders, what makes them unique is that the competition manufactures their products abroad or theyre the only game in town.

Now The Question Becomes Which Grill To Get
Well, there are a few options of grills, and depending on what exactly you want to be able to do on your grill determines which type of grill you should get.
Some brands make better smokers, other brands make better electric grills, while others still are targeted for the best all-around use possible, giving you several grilling options in one convenient grill.
Today we will focus on the latter. With that in mind, it is my opinion, which Weber grills are your best option.
Weber 14402001 Original Kettle Premium Charcoal Grill
Why youll love it:
The kettle design is synonymous with most charcoal grills from Weber. This design makes it easy to enjoy a barbeque grill on your patio or small backyard, because it makes the grill more compact. The big dome is not only stylish, but it also facilitates faster cooking. For smaller option see the Weber Smokey Joe 14.
What we liked
What we didnt like
- Charcoal is messy and expensive
But here is why this is the best Weber charcoal grill I have sampled so far.
It has a hinged grate that stays in place even when you are stoking the fire and adding more charcoal to the grill. This may seem basic, but after using grills with unstable grates that sacrifice my meat to the ashes below, I appreciate one that stays in place.
The cooking surface area is 393 square inches, and allowing users to put on multiple foods. The use of porcelain enameled grates ensures the grill retains heat throughout the grilling process. And thereafter it is very easy to clean.

After deciding that a Weber Smokey Mountain was the best bet for great BBQ at a reasonable price, I set off to find a smoker. I found this smoker through an online estate auction. The colored manual pictured in the auction led me to believe that it was an early model. As I read more, I got excited that I could be looking at an early 1980s model of the WSM. A few others drove the price up to $80, which I was glad to pay.
When I picked up the item I was pleased to find that the only parts that needed to be replaced were the food grates. It even came with the original teak wood handle in good condition as well as the original assembly guide and full color manual. I got excited when I saw the C date code stamp. I opted to purchase a new door since the original had obvious air gaps and was rather rusty due to its time in the elements. I was amazed at the wonderful condition of the rest of the unit. The legs are rusted over, but the porcelain finish is still in great condition. The charcoal grate is a bit rusty, but perfectly usable.

Warming Racks With Every Grill
All the grills have warming racks for your grills. This is the best place to keep food warm as you are whipping up culinary masterpieces. Its an amazing feature to have, especially when you are cooking for large crowds or at large family gatherings.
The warming rack can also be placed perfectly above the grill in the perfect place to toast buns for your burgers. This is very convenient because it means you dont have to take the buns inside to toast in the toaster or the oven. It also keeps them from getting too charred if you cook directly on the grill.
