Memphis Grills Elite Wood Fire Pellet Smoker And Built

Why youll love it:

This grill is definitely one of the best aroundif you can get past the sticker shock. Even with the mindset that youre coming to terms with this being a large purchase or a long term investment, this grill is exorbitantly pricey.

What we liked

  • Wood-fired: This is a pellet smoker with all the bonuses that come with that. Wood-fired grilling is just so much more satisfying and versatile than electric or gas grilling, even if those are far easier. In particular, smoking is aided by the wood pellets infusing the meat with their specific flavors.
  • Pellet Feeding: This grill comes with a proper pellet feeding system, and auger that pushes the pellets out of the hopper, as well as flaps to regulate temperature and keep the fire going with limited involvement on your part.
  • Wi-Fi Control: This grill can be app controlled from your phone, which is a nice plus.
  • Cooking Surface: A sizable, 658-square-inch cooking space makes this grill great for both smoking and grilling. No extra burners here since its wood-fired, but the interior is properly shaped to funnel the heat to evenly cook everything.

What we didnt like

  • Price: This grill is great, dont get me wrong, but this thing costs over twice what an average grill does. Its worth it, but may be out of the price range youre willing to pay for a luxury item.

Napoleon Lex 605 Drop In Grill

The trademark of Napoleon grills is the wave grill grates with sear plates. This masterpiece, Napoleon LEX 605 grill has stainless steel wave grills featuring the signature S pattern to improve heat and provide beautiful sear marks on the meat. The sear plates guarantee an evenly heated surface with maximum temperature to maximize the fuel and achieve perfectly seared beef.

The unique features of the Napoleon LEX 605 are the two infrared burners. The one is located at the bottom with 12,000 BTU, while the other is at the back with 13,500 BTU. The rear infrared burner can provide consistent high heat for roasts chicken and pork, although the grill does not come with a rotisserie kit. For a total of 850 square inches of cooking surface, you can cook up to 32 burgers at the same time. Its BTU content can even let you warm up and grill burgers from the freezer.

The Jetfire ignition system does not fail every time you start the flame. However, the igniter for the infrared back burner might face an issue over time. For all malfunctions that might arise, the 10-year warranty got them covered. Overall, Napoleon LEX 605 is a reasonable built in grill for your home.

Gas Grill Inserts Need Ventilation

Regardless of your fuel preference, outdoor kitchen grills come with a few safety considerations you must take seriously before installation. Ventilation is a huge concern, both within the BBQ island and above the gas grill insert itself. Proper grill island ventilation planning, for instance, is key to avoid dangerous gas build-ups, lingering smoke in your outdoor kitchen, and discoloration from grease and fumes. And while youre planning your outdoor kitchen layout, give plenty of thought to the building materials. Outdoor kitchen drop-in gas grills placed in combustible materials must be installed with an insulated grill jacket to prevent the island from catching fire. For this reason, we recommend avoiding combustibles like wood altogether. But if youre set on building with a combustible material, consult our guide to insulated grill jackets to keep your family and home protected.

How To Build An Outdoor Kitchen

Lynx Professional 36

Kitchens are the undisputed heart of the home, where everyone gathers, mingles, and lingers during parties. But to achieve that kind of appeal outside means expanding your outdoor living space. To draw a crowdand keep them entertainedrequires a bit more than plopping down a table and a few plastic chairs.

With an outdoor kitchen you can prepare meals and be around your guests with minimal time spent running back inside for plates, beverages, or tongs. Although you could spend tens of thousands of dollars for a custom outdoor kitchen, a basic island is an efficient design that leaves out the complexity of curves and angles. Not only that, with an island guests can relax on one side while youre cooking on the other, so you feel as though youre part of the gathering.

Since durability is such a critical issue for an outdoor kitchen, stone veneer is a low-maintenance option that wont need painting or sealing. Real stone is heavy, expensive, and requires the experience of a mason. Cementitious cultured stone, such as the type used in this project from Landmark Stone, is easier to work with because its lighter, cuts faster, and lasts just as long as the real thingall while looking as natural as real stone. With Built In Grills Size Matters

A big consideration when deciding on a built in grill is size. If you already have a grill you use frequently, you likely have an idea what size youll need already. For others, it may not be that simple.

Youre planning an outdoor kitchen. Most likely, youre preparing to host more people and have more gatherings than before. More people + more gatherings = need for larger grills.

Think about how you use your grill currently. If youre a family of four, is it just enough space to accommodate you? If you plan to entertain more than four people, its time to consider an upgraded bbq grill size.

What To Look For In Built In Grill Buying Guides

When you are in the market in search of a drop-in or built-in gas grill, two crucial factors should be in your mind. First, the grill should be of a premium quality that provides satisfying outdoor experience but with the convenience of an indoor grill. Second, it should have a smooth built that will fit into your outdoor space.

Commercial-Grade stainless steel construction does not only provide the grill a polished finish but also the protection for the interior components. The non-stick grill grates are easy to clean and improve the heat distribution. Versatile grills often come with a searing burner and a rotisserie burner. The most versatile in our list is the Weber Summit S-460 grill because each of its burners has different temperature control.

There are additional features that come with a price. These features include the thermometer, back-lighted control knobs, drip tray, and halogen lights. Built in grills usually cost more than the stand-alone gas grills because they have better mechanisms and specialized construction. You should be able and willing to go beyond your budget.

If you are building a great outdoor kitchen, these type of grills are a serious investment. To put your mind at ease, make sure that you are getting a model that is backed by a lifetime warranty. However, some warranties only cover particular parts.

How to Install a Prestige PRO500 Built In Grill Head for Outdoor Kitchen

Why youll love it:

This grill looks good on the surface, but a host of quality control issues hold it back from any kind of recommendation.

What we liked

  • Wood-fired: This grill accepts wood pellets for smoking and grilling, which is always an excellent touch.
  • Cooking Surface: 860 square inches of cooking space is huge, and it has an excellent two-tiered space for smoking and warming sauces. Despite appearances, the cooking surface is cast iron, which has excellent heat retention.

What we didnt like

  • Temperature Range: The maximum temperature is only 600 degrees, making searing difficult.
  • Quality Control: Users report numerous quality control issues, which is my main problem with this grill. The grill produces thick black smoke which billows out from the front and rear, choking the griller. It doesnt do any favors to the flavor of the food either, giving it a gritty, charcoal-laden taste. The smoke is also a sign of a larger issue with heat dispersion, with the grill venting heat in strange directions. This is both inefficient and dangerous it has a tendency to swiftly destroy the mounting its set in.

Why Buy A Built

Fire Magic Echelon Diamond E790i 36
  • Convenience – One of the defining qualities of all propane and natural gas built-in grills is their ease of use. While charcoal grills can require significant time and effort to start, a built-in natural gas or propane grill can be started with just the push of a button or the twist of a knob. If you want to get to grilling quickly and easily, a gas grill is the way to go.
  • Stability – While the above point is true of all gas grills, one of the primary selling points of having a gas grill built in is the stability and permanence it offers. You can truly transform your outdoor kitchen space by designing and building a dedicated grilling island.
  • Durability – The other major upside to a built-in barbecue grill is that they tend to last longer than similar freestanding models. Because they stay in one spot rather than being moved around, they suffer less wear and tear over the years, keeping them in pristine grilling condition and making them an excellent investment.
