Condiments Toppings Bread And Sides
Hamburgers all by themselves are just fine. However, condiments and layers of fresh toppings can really elevate a good beef burger. I like to make use of my Foreman grill to prepare some of the toppings, such as grilled sweet onion slices. Prepare your toppings, condiments, and sides ahead of time because the burgers only take a few minutes to cook.
Not everyone likes their burger the same way. A good plan is to lay out a large platter with a variety of toppings for everyone to choose from. Try some of these:
- Thin slices of cheese, such as American or provolone
- Sliced ripe red tomatoes
- Horseradish sauce
- Hot pepper sauce
When it comes to what bread to use for your burgers, there are also many options. My personal favorite is a sturdy Kaiser roll. But, a good old fashioned soft hamburger bun is also great. If you are feeling more adventurous, try fork split English muffins that have been lightly grilled on the inside face. Brioche and potato rolls are also quite good.
You need only some basic sides to go with hamburgers. No need to outshine the main event. Potato chips, fries, coleslaw, potato salad, and 3 bean salad are all good choices. A couple of recipes are included at the end of this post.
The two recipes developed here are for easy beef burgers that wont take much time at all to prepare and grill. The first recipe has the beef seasoned with Worcestershire sauce and Liquid Smoke for that charcoal grill flavor.
Carefully Form The Patties
Keep your burgers tender by gently forming the patties, being careful not to overwork them. One of my favorite burger tips is to use the lid to a large sour cream or yogurt container lined with plastic wrap to flatten patties. This prevents the burger meat from getting tough, and you end up with a perfect patty every time.
Another great trick is to use your thumb to press a form a small whole in the middle of the patty, like a doughnut. This helps with airflow so the burger cook evenly and prevents them from shriveling up. Check out these other burger tips from pro cooks.
Is It Right To Grill Frozen Burgers
Absolutely! But you have to lengthen the cooking time almost twice, as they need to be defrosted first, then go with cooking. But if you buy packaged hamburgers from the store, then you should go with the method mentioned on the pack.
While cooking the frozen burger, your target is to reach a thermal reading of 160 degrees Fahrenheit in the middle. Easy if you have a meat thermometer, but if not, you simply follow our instructions below. Even if you know the process, get a final check with the meat thermometer for perfection.

How Do I Know When To Flip A Burger
You may have reador had some burger-master try to tell youthat you shouldn’t over-flip a burger. The theory is that this will somehow prevent the meat from browning properly. So a few years ago scientist-cook J. Kenji López-Alt did an experiment on how flipping affected cooking, and discovered some good news: You can flip it as much as you like!
We do recommend letting the patty cook for at least 3-4 minutes before giving it a first flip, to give the meat time to sear. Otherwise, the patty may start to fall apart. After that, however, you can flip it once and be done, or flip it as often as you like, trying to get both sides to cook and brown evenly. Either way, the important thing is to be attentive. You can always cook your burger a little longer, but there’s not much you can do if it becomes overcooked.

Also, it prevents that age-old problem of a burger that is burnt on the outside but raw on the inside due to an overheated stove-top griddle.

There are several good quality brands on the market. You can compare the pros and cons all day long if you want!
Some of the grills mimic a charcoal grill but use electricity instead. Other grills have high searing temperatures like you can get on a regular outdoor grill.
