No, it is not recommended for you to run the hose through the surface of the grill. It will damage the grill and probably make you to replace it, especially if the water goes inside the burners.

What you can do instead, is that you can use a hose to clean the soapy water from external parts of the grill, such as the lid or the side panels. However, even in those parts, you should be very careful to only use the hose gently.

Grab Your Grill Brush For Quick Clean Grates

Unlike cast iron, the grates on your Nexgrill are not designed to lock in any seasoning, so theres no reason to leave oil on it overnight.

Take your handy grill brush and give those grates a nice, easy scrub. Any leftover food should come off without much effort. If you dip your grill brush in a bowl of water before you scrub, the steam actually helps the cleaning process. Dip frequently, and be sure to wear a grill mitt to protect your hand from the heat and steam.

Clean The Heat Deflectors

Many gas grills have thin steel plates, angled in the shape of a “V,” that separate the burners from the cooking chamber. These heat deflectors serve to distribute heat evenly around the cooking chamber and prevent the gas flames from burning the foods directly overhead. Grease and food residue often drips down onto these deflectors.

Clean the deflectors after every three of four uses of the grill by removing them from the cooking chamber and scrubbing them with warm soapy water and a nylon brush or scrubbing pad. Dry them completely before putting them back in the grill.

Oil Your Grill Grates

With the grates still warm from drying out the grill in the last step, soak a couple of paper towels in vegetable oil, take your tongs and rub the towel over your hot grates.

I recommend wearing some good, heat-resistant BBQ gloves to be sure of no burns.

This will help to prevent corrosion and prolong the life of your grates, as well as stop food sticking to them as easily, so is an important step.

Stop after you are sure that all the surface of the grate is oiled and ready to go.

Remove And Clean Grill Grates

Even if you use a grill brush or a grill scraper between cookouts, a deep clean will give you a chance to remove any leftover bits with a long soak and some careful attention.

Put the grill grates into a large basin or a deep utility bucket and cover them with warm to hot water and a grease-fighting soap, such as Dawn dish soap. Let the grates sit in the soapy water for an hour.

Afterwards, you should be able to easily wipe off any stuck-on debris with paper towels or a sponge. If you have any particularly difficult bits, you can remove them using a scrubbing pad, steel wool, or even a crumpled-up piece of aluminum foil .

If youre unable to clean the grates sufficiently with soap and water, try a dedicated grill cleaning solution, white vinegar, or a gentle cleaning paste made of baking soda and water.
