The Weber Genesis II E-310 gas grill is also an exceptional performer, and it offers several clever, life-improving design elements that we love. The grates are about 20 percent bigger, too, but overall the Genesis II takes up barely more area than the Spirit II, so theres no appreciable trade-off between the two if your patio space is tight. Essentially, the decision comes down to how youll use your grill: If you often cook for crowds, the Genesis II is worth the extra couple hundred dollars.
Performance-wise, we found the two Weber models nearly identical, with the Spirit just slightly edging the Genesis II on burger-searing performance. And that gap would probably close with a bit more time to learn the Genesis IIs finer points. In terms of materials, the two are almost twins, offering heavy cast-aluminum fireboxes and porcelain-coated cast-iron grates. The Genesis II, however, features a frame made of welded rails, while the Spirit II is made of folded metal . Theyre both sturdy enough, but the Genesis II is appreciably stiffer and more solid-feeling. And we like that it has casters: Its easier to swivel into a corner for storage than the casterless Spirit.
Moving the tank to the outside also frees up space below the grill, which Weber fills with a generous and sturdy storage shelf. Thats a nice feature you can keep trays, grill tools, or even a small cooler there.
Are Weber Grills Made In China
Weber settled the case out of court, but they made no effort to change their practices. In fact, most of the company manufactures most of their products in China these days. Up until 2016, Weber could still claim that their grills were Made in The USA with globally sourced components, but thats no longer the case.

We wish Weber would take a cue from some competitors and make the bars of its warming racks run front to back, parallel to the main grates. That way, you could easily slide a spatula under stuff thats warming. As it is, the warming-rack bars run edge to edge, and you have to awkwardly jimmy a spatula in there sideways.
The Spirit II E-310 should come with a grill cover. It doesnt, nor did any grill in our test group. Youll need to buy one separately Webers dedicated Spirit II cover costs about $55, and a well-regarded generic cover costs about $20.
What Is Weber’s Smart Grill Hub And Why Is It Useful
Weber’s Smart Grilling Hub is a connectivity accessory that mounts to the side of your grill. The way to “connect” the accessory piece is by downloading the Smart Grilling Hub app on your phone. The app is Bluetooth connected and will send alerts to your phone, such as temperature readings for four different meat types.
This includes alarming you when it reaches a minimum or maximum temperature. This allows you to know when your food is done cooking without cutting into the meat, checking the color, or standing by the grill.
All this functionality is now built into the Smart grills.

Is This Grill Portable
Great question. Portable as in able to move around your patio or balcony? Yes, absolutely. In fact, Weber put large all-weather wheels on one side so you can easily lift the other and maneuver the grill wherever youd like it to be. The stationary legs are substantial, so you do not have to worry about it moving when you dont want it to.
If youre talking about portable as in being able to pop it in the back of your pick-up and take it to the park or on a camping trip, the answer is still yes, but with some reservations. This Weber barbecue does not break down quickly into small pieces for easy transport.
It is, however, just over 100 lbs. , so with help, you can put the whole unit in your truck bed and secure it for the trip.

âCooks fantastic, easy folding shelves, easy assembly is not rocket science. Cooks anything great so far and if you use the drip tray for wood chips, dry, it will smoke fantastic. Put the chips in the drip tray ear the side where the vent is formed in the lid to give it oxygen. Crank the heat to get the grill to full temp and get the chips burning. Once the chips are smoking good, add your meat and adjust the temp. When you are close to done, leave the lid closed and shut off the gas.
