Using an instant-read meat thermometer is really the only accurate way to gauge your chicken’s doneness. But in the case that you don’t have a thermometer, cut into the chicken and ensure that the juices run clear. Here are the estimated grilling times for chicken breasts, based on an internal temp of 165 degrees F.

  • Boneless chicken breasts: 7 to 8 minutes per side

The length of time that it takes to cook your chicken will depend on the size and thickness of your meat. When grilled over medium-high heat , a thin, small chicken breast will require about 5 minutes per side. Larger, thicker pieces of chicken will need up to 10-12 minutes per side.

  • Lemon juice: Only use fresh lemon juice.
  • Fresh basil, parsley, oregano, rosemary, and thyme: the highlight of this recipe! Such a delicious Italian style blend!

Weve been living in messy, chaotic disarray all summer long. Im not talking about the laundry nor my hair, though both could easily qualify.

Our house has been turned upside down for the past couple of months. What originally started as a minor repaint project quickly morphed into a whole-house makeover that has taken on a life of its own. Our kitchen has been out of commission, weve lived out of a hotel at times, and Ive fed my kids more McDs than theyve had in their lives.

Mostly, I try not to look around my house. For sanitys sake, I put my blinders on and choose to embrace what everyone tells me: youll love it when its all done. Amen.

Another thing to embrace: the grill. The grill is your friend when your kitchen is closed.

Grilled Chicken with Garlic Lime Marinade is a deliciously tender, juicy dish thats sure to become a family favorite. Every bite is bursting with big flavors everyone wants more of. Put that zesty life into your grilled chicken

How Long To Grill Chicken Breast

Cook time depends on the thickness and if its whole or sliced into culets. It will take about 5 to 8 minutes per side for thicker pieces and between 3 to 5 minutes for thinner ones. Dark meat like thighs, legs, and wings need an extra few minutes because they are fattier with more connective tissue.

If needed, finish cooking on the indirect heat side until fully cooked, between 160 to 165ºF . Rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving to allow carryover cooking and the juices to redistribute.

Side Dishes

Choosing Spices For Seasoning Grilled Meats

Spices with oil-soluble flavor compounds like coriander, cumin, and paprika are great for grilling. When in contact with olive oil, those flavor compounds dissolve and disperse better. Using a dry heat cooking technique like grilling allows the spices in the oil mixture to bloom, intensifying the taste of the ground seasoning. Too high of heat can char them, which is desirable on barbecued foods in small amounts.

How To Make Grilled Italian Lemon Garlic Chicken:

Place all the ingredients into the Ziploc bag. Seal it up and mix all the ingredients together by shaking the bag.

Then add in the chicken breasts and seal the bag again , then massage the marinade into the chicken. Refrigerate for at least two hours.

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat Make sure your grill grates are clean so the chicken won’t stick. Place marinated chicken on the grill and discard any excess marinade.

Note: I do like to keep the lemon slices. I will place them on the uppermost part of my grill rack while the chicken is cooking. Or try to keep them on the chicken as I cook it. It’s not necessary but it makes a nice presentation when serving the chicken. If you don’t have an upper grill rack, you can always place them on the side, on top of aluminum foil – ensuring they are not over direct heat.

Close lid on grill and cook each side of the chicken for about 6-8 minutes It helps to use a meat thermometer when grilling. You want your chicken cooked to 165f degrees .

How To Grill Chicken

Say goodbye to flavorless, dry chicken and hello to mouthwatering, succulent juicy chicken. Its easy to do at home.

Heres what we consider to be the best way to grill chicken:

Pound the chicken into one thickness This is especially relevant when cooking chicken breast. Im sure youve noticed that chicken breasts are thicker on one end compared to the other. By using a mallet or rolling pin to pound the thicker end to a more similar thickness as the thinner end, you make sure that the chicken grills evenly. If you have bone-in breasts or thighs, you can skip this step.

You dont need a long marinating window for the best grilled chicken. Twenty minutes is long enough to do the trick. If you have longer, go for it. You can marinate chicken up to a day in advance.

Use two grill zones This is a great tip for grilling almost anything! Crank the heat up on one zone of your grill and leave another zone low. The hotter zone is perfect for getting a nice sear and those pretty grill marks, while the cooler zone is perfect for finishing the cooking so that the chicken stays nice and juicy.

Let the chicken rest Theres some contention as to why its a good idea to let meat rest after cooking, but heres the deal, before cutting the chicken, give it a few minutes. In this time, it will finish cooking and all the juices inside will either distribute or fall out onto your plate. If there are juices on your plate, save them! They make the best sauce.

How To Make The Marinade And Grill The Chicken Thighs

  • Make garlic herb marinade: In a medium mixing bowl whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, basil, parsley, oregano, rosemary, thyme, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste .
  • Pour marinade over chicken in bag: Place chicken in a gallon size resealable bag. Pour marinade mixture over chicken. Seal bag while pressing out excess air.
  • Rub with marinade, let rest in fridge: Rub marinade over chicken while turning pieces to evenly coat with herbs and garlic until its evenly distributed. Transfer to refrigerator and let marinate 1 8 hours.
  • Heat grill, cook chicken though: Preheat a gas grill over medium-high heat to about 425 degrees. Grill chicken until center registers 165 degrees in thickest portion, about 5 minutes per side.
  • Rest and garnish: Let rest a few minutes before serving. Garnish with more fresh basil and parsley if desired.

How long should I marinate the chicken?

Chicken marinated for 6-8 hours will have the best flavor. But even a quick 30-minute marinade will do if you’re short on time. Just don’t marinate the chicken longer than 24 hours or the texture of the meat will change and start to get mushy.

Can chicken be frozen in the marinade?

Yes! We love these large Stasher freezer bags for freezing just about everything, including this chicken. Simply put the chicken into the bag, pour in the marinade, squish the bag around a little so the chicken is coated in the marinade, then put the bag into your freezer.

What cut of chicken should I use? Breast, thighs, boneless, help!

This marinade can be used to marinade all cuts of chicken. Simply choose your favorite and use that!

Grill the marinated chicken breasts for about 5 minutes per side. Remove from heat and cover with a pan lid or a foil tent and allow it to rest for 5 minutes. Check that the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.

4. If you dont have a way to grill the garlic and herb chicken at all, you can cook the chicken breast in the oven. Bake at 400 degrees, on a greased, rimmed baking sheet, for 18-23 minutes, until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.

5. To cook the chicken faster, cut the thickness in half so that each chicken breast becomes two thin chicken breasts. Grill for about 3 minutes per side, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
