When Did Pellet Grills Become Popular

Pellet grills were first manufactured by Traeger in 1988, but they really began to hit significant popularity in 2014 or so.

This was when Traeger, the creator and largest manufacturer of pellet grills, hired a new CEO. His plan to grow the brand focused on marketing through educating the public about their pellet grills.

This plan obviously worked since hardware stores now offer entire pellet grill sections. You have most likely heard of pellet grills due to Tragers marketing strategy.

There have also been several professional BBQ competitors who use pellet grills in competitions.

According to several interviews and BBQ forums, many professionals claim that pellet smokers give just the right amount of smoke to balance out the flavor of the meat. Balance is essential when a judge evaluates food in BBQ competitions.

Its difficult to find who was the first to use a pellet grill in competition. Still, a few professionals were using pellet smokers as far back as 2004.

How Can You Make Your Own Drops In Grill

If you dont want to purchase a drop-in grill from a store, you can always make your own. All you need is a grill that has a slide-in feature and some basic construction knowledge.

First, find an existing outdoor kitchen area that you can use. This will be the frame of your grill.

Next, measure the dimensions of the opening in the outdoor kitchen area and purchase a grill that is the same size or slightly smaller.

Then, using construction adhesive and mortar, attach the grill to the opening in the outdoor kitchen area. Make sure that its level and secure before using it.

Once the grill is attached, youre ready to start cooking!

Can I Use A Regular Grill For A Built In

Why is fuel so expensive and when will prices go down again? | ABC News

Technically, you can use a regular grill for a built in under certain circumstances. If the manufacturer of the grill recommends this kind of conversion it is possible, but in most cases, the answer to this question is no.

Most consumer models are not made to be converted into a built in. This is because the integrity and strength of the grill is not suitable. Built in grills are designed with extra strength and resiliency.

    Natural Gas Vs Propane

Its estimated that about two-thirds of the built in grills made are propane-powered versus natural gas, but manufacturers are beginning to make more models for the latter.

In the long-term, natural gas is cheaper to buy, but if you dont have a line running to your home already, you will need to install the plumbing and pay for the service. It may be more expensive to arrange the initial setup.

Propane is environmentally friendly, and it burns hotter than natural gas. The difference is 2,500 BTUs vs 1,000 BTUs. Propane is the more expensive and more inconvenient alternative because you need to refill tanks. Natural gas is piped in.

Natural gas also has a higher risk of creating a fire hazard because it is more concentrated and hangs lower to the ground. If sparks are present, there is a higher danger of flare-ups or fires.

One is not necessarily better than the other, its more a matter of what youre set up for and what works best for you.

    Coyote Grills Cost

As weve already established, there are a ton of grills in the Coyote line! So we wont detail pricing of everything You can find them all on Coyotes website.

So how much is a Coyote grill?

For a C-Series grill, youll pay anywhere from $1,259.00 $2,299.00 depending on size. As you can see, this firmly fits into the average range we discussed earlier.

If we want to compare price to KitchenAids standard model Lets look at the 28 C-Series. The cost for this model is $1,259.00

It costs over $300 more than the KitchenAid So what is the reason for the discrepancy? Theyre both composed of primarily the same materials.

There are a couple slight differences that may account for this.

Coyotes Infinity Burners are an upgrade to KitchenAids tube burners, for one. Coyotes cooking grates are also made from complete 304 stainless steel. KitchenAids are wrapped with 304 stainless, so the core is made of something else that likely reduces cost. Coyote grill hoods are also double walled. While unable to confirm if KitchenAids are the same, this can account for the discrepancy as well.

Overall, you are getting notable upgrades for the extra $300. However, there is no rotisserie burner in the C-Series so that may weigh a bit differently for you.

    So, what of the S-Series?

To compare more directly with KitchenAids upgraded offering Well look to the 36 model. This model costs $2,849.00.
